Stop. One of 3 things is happening.
If Automatic, some of the converters have a tang which interlocks into a matching slot and these must fit into each other.

If Automatic, some have different shaft spline sizes and the converter must have the same size spline opening.

If stick-shift the pilot bearing and clutch must be aligned with a Pilot tool to center the assembly.. Also if it has a slave cylinder on the clutch it may be interfering.

They put pilot bearing in at the factory so the motors can have any trany instaled in production and not need to program one in.

the handle does not override the lock function. you have to hit unlock then pull the handle

if all others are working properly you are most likely having a problem with the door lock actuator in that door

the driver's door has a switch which tells the multiplexer control unit that the door is open and the control unit then switches on the lights. It sounds like the switch is not making contact when the driver's door is open. The lights work and the other door switches work--so it isn't a fuse or multiplexer problem.
