The airbag light keeps coming on, I am pretty sure it it due to the sensers under the passenger seat cause it only happens when there is a passenger in the car. until I can get it fixed is the a way I can unhook the sensers under that seat to ******* the alarm without setting off the airbags?? If I can then maybe I can find the one that is bad and fix the car myself and save some money, but I dont know to much about the airbag sestem to just go in blind. I really dont want to mess up my wifes car, I like sleeping in the house..LOL
Thanks for ur help

call up mazda. you should be able to get it replaced for free under safety recalls. unless youre missing one completely. then youll need them to get you one and install it. cause if you accidentally set off the airbag youre out of a car. if they set one off, they fix it or replace your car for free. up to you. second option sounds better in my opinion.

Most dealerships or garages with decent scan tools can find an air bag code if the light is on. The light might not turn itself off even when fixed and would have to be cleared. Also I've seen lights come on if someone has a large audio system installed and is drawing to much power. That is usually just a low voltage code with the system though.

Makes sense if that is what code was stored in the Occupant Restraint Module. There are sensors in the seatbelts now.

The passenger side airbag is a lot easier then driver side. Take the glove box out and you will see two 10mm bolts holding it in place. When you open the passenger side front door, remove the panel on the side of the dash and you will see yellow connectors. The 1 closest to the front is attached to the air bag, it is clipped into the frame. Just pull it loose and take it out and your done. For the Driver side, it takes a skinny T27 to remove the two star bolts, then just disconnect the horn red clip and ground and install new airbag. The module is located under the passenger seat, underneath the carpet. Kinda stupid but thats where its at. You also need to replace the front impact sensor located behind the grille on the back side of the metal bar to each side. Follow the hood latch down. Also just to make sure, you know to disconnect the battery before you do all this. You don't want new airbags to accidentally deploy.

no I didnt mean to make it sound fine, the warning light keeps coming on on the dash, it comes on and rings the chime then goes off and repeats every few seconds. it only does it when someone is in the passanger seat which makes me think the sensers are bad. so basicly when there is someone in the pass. seat the warning light keeps coming on and the chime rings and after a while it will drive a person up a wall. I hope this helps with understanding my problem
2007 chrysler pt cruiser, and 1 chime for everytime the light comes on. the light stays on approx 8 seconds gos off and comes back on with 1 chime. this is constant over and over.
Hi, OK, Thanks for sticking with this. There is a module called the OCM located under the front passenger seat that communicates with the ORC. The ORC is the controller that is giving the alarm that something is interfering with the OCM. Many things can cause this, but look for the obvious stuff first, a seat cover, something stuffed under the seat, seat pushed back pulling a cable, you get the idea. There are four sensors located under the seat, check all of the plugs. If nothing obvious, you can turn off the passenger air bag and turn it back on again and see if that helps. As for your original idea to disable something you should know that the PT is equipped with an EDR ( Data Recorder) that will indicate if something has been tampered with in the event of a crash. I gave you enough to do for now, get back to me when you can. Good Luck!
Hi, OK got it. I need the make and model of vehicle and how many chimes do you get in a sequence?
Hi, Why are you trying to disable it? It sounds like it is working just fine. The sensors detect whether there is the weight of a person in the seat and turn the airbag off or on depending on if the seat is occupied. By your description the light turns on when a passenger is in the seat indicating that the airbag is active which is what it should do. Am I correct or do you need to clarify the problem?
