The engine will suddenly stop and the dashboard goes black. The engine seems to restart easily but a bunch or warning lights and beeps go on and off erratically. If I disconnect the battery the problem seems to temporarily go away.
Check for any codes first.

truck needs to be scanned for the codes,most major parts stores will do this for little or no charge,get back to me with the codes and we'll go from there

if the car doesn't move then the speedo would not move, right? or do u mean something else? yours trans has failed or the trans digital range selector switch is bad, have a scanner put on the system and see if any trouble codes are present.

I have same problem, 04 Tarus, Abs light, brake light, fuel cap light, oil pressure light, and one other, checked oil pressure with manual gauge and its good, has been doing this since it was new in 04, also radio has a mind of its own turns up and down on its own when warning lights are on.
