2002 gmc envoy xl air bag light is on

Does it light up ? When you turn the key on do the warning lights come on ? Check engine , oil , abs , air bag etc... just gauges not working ? Does the vehicle start an run ? have you tried replacing the fuse and also looking at the connections under the seat

try changing the fuse or looking under the seat for disconnected or frayed wires

Are you looking to discharge and remove air bag or just remove from steering column

To remove air bag from steering column
Disconnect battery
Behind steering wheel there are four bolts tha hold bag on
They are tricky to see the bolt holes but their there tight spot
Now for the trick of wiring hopefully new style came with a release wire clip older style fed wires down column with release clip located under dash
Remove the key ignition box
The wires should be bright orange or yellow from air bag going threw column
If old style you will have to loosen turn signal indicators if wires run under mount
Once you get to end of wire clip
Use a sewing needle to push buds out of clip mark your the main side
Now for ease part
Tape a little 3 foot wire to the ends before pull completley threw this will help pull bud wires back down threw tutn indicator switch
Never force wire threw gently
Removing air bag hopefully made simple by quick release clip under horn press

Sounds like the air bag pump went out. I replaced mine and got it on line and saved hundreds. It is located just behind the right rear wheel well just over the muffler.Hope this helps.

There is a module that controls the air bags called the SDM Sensing and Diagnostic Module, but the air bags themselves are called modules. If they are referring to the SDM...

It should automatically air itself back up when you start the vehicle.

Just behind right rear tire up in the wheel well. Air inlet is inside right rear quarter near the accessory inflator. Compressor runs 3 lines one for the accessory inflator and one for each air bag.
THere are also 2 sensors, one on each trailing arm that senses load and then raises and lowers accordingly.
