Yes corrosion can be the issue.Just get proper servicing done to wiring and connections and see if that helps.

My 97 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 when I started up with an engine reaches a certain temperature the car just shuts down what's my problem

Check engine light on. Have the codes read. Is the temp normal or hot. Problems could be the crank sensor, coil pack, ignition control module, ECM.

I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 that is overheating whenin traffic or at a stoplight or drivethru. i have a check engine code p01491 . i have replaced the fan relay.i hhave jumped the fan it works ....

The relay gets power on the gray wire from a 40amp fuse. The relay is grounded and gets a power signal from the PCM on the dark blue and pink wire. The PCM signals the relay if the engine temp reaches 220 degrees or the ac is turned on and it works.
You would need to have a scanner or the means to read engine temp to find out if the computer is signaling the relay on when the coolant temp reaches 220 - 225 degrees.

Radiator fans not working on a 99 dodge Grand Caravan

Hi there:
The engine coolant temperature sensor is a variable resistor with a range of -40 degrees F-265 degrees F (-5 degrees C-129 degrees C).

The engine coolant temperature sensor provides an input voltage to the PCM. As the coolant temperature varies, the sensor resistance changes resulting in a different input voltage to the PCM.

When the engine is cold, the PCM will demand slightly richer air/fuel mixtures and higher idle speeds until normal operating temperatures are reached.

The engine coolant temperature sensor is also utilized for control of the cooling fan.

Fig. 1: Engine coolant temperature sensor location - 3.3L and 3.8L engines

Check this test procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Detach the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
  3. Using a DVOM set to the ohms scale, connect one lead to terminal A and the other lead to terminal B of the coolant temperature sensor connector.
  1. With the engine at normal operating temperature, approximaterly 200 degrees F (93 degrees C), the ohmmeter should read approximately 700-1000 ohms.
  2. With the engine at room temperature, approximately 70 degrees F (21 degrees C), the ohmmeter should read approximately 7000-13,000 ohms.
  3. If not within specifications, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
  4. Test the resistance of the wiring harness between PCM terminal 26 and the sensor wiring harness connector. Also check for continuity between PCM connector terminal 43 and the sensor wiring harness connector. If the resistance measures greater than 1 ohm, repair the wiring harness as necessary.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Code p0601 on 2001 grand caravan

A doozy! And common to Chrysler Dodge products. The code means the computer detected an internal fault in the PCM. There have been many reported failures of the Program Control Module in Chrysler products.
However, if you took off the connector to the PCM while battery was connected, you may have set the code yourself.
It's pretty much a dealer fix: In most cases, the fix is to replace and reprogram the PCM. In a few instances, the dealer may be able to reflash the PCM and get it working again, but usually it needs replacing and reprogramming. It's probably not, but ask if it's still under emissions warranty.
If you use an independent shop to replace the PCM, make sure they can also program it. Good luck.

97' grand am starts and stalls ,fuel pressure ok

I'd go with replacing the fuel filter, especially if it hasn't been replaced. It should be replaced every 12,000-20,000 miles. I would check the fuel pressure also. These 2 items are not monitored by the computer.

PO700 PO740, check engine light on. Run a test on

PO700 is a code telling you there are codes in the TCM of some late model cars where the Transmission control module has lost connection to the PCM the vehicals main computer , And basically it happens when the TCM has a issue within itself or the transmission that sets a code and it sends a request for the PCM to illuminate the SES or CHECK engine light.
PO740 is a chrystler specific code that involves your Tourqe Converter Clutch Circuit (specifically The TCC solenoid) this code if not repaired quickly could cause major transmission problems....slipping out of gear....not shifting from first to second properly and just all around trans problems...eventually leading to no shifting at all...I highly recommend fixing it soon.

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan I just put a master computer on. Is there a way that I can reset it? The engine runs fine so I know it works but it wont shift properly.

Hope you put a PCM in. TCM is in side the PCM. The TCM sometimes needs a brake in period. 200 miles. If not call the dealer to have then flash the PCM with the updates. Around $80 at the dealer. Tell them you want to FLASH to PCM for bump shifting. Any Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer can do this in 1 hour. Thers a Chrysler TSB #2101807 Dated 10-27-07 about Transmission Reprogramming. If the dealer put the PCM take it back tell them about the TSB
