I have just finished this task, based on not one, but many, "suggestions" via the internet. Reassuringly enough 95% are correct. Most important is the engine must be warm when attempting to complete this maintenance. If not you will more than likely anger your neighbors while spewing explicatives from underneath your Rodeo. Thank goodness I know my neighbors, they just laughed......

SOURCE: how to check transmission fluid on 2001 isuzu rodeo

There is no dipstick on your auto trans. Checking it is a real PITA The trans pan has 2 plugs in it. The one on the very bottom is the drain. The one in the corner, up higher in a recess is the check/fill plug. To check, the engine must be warm and running, tranny in P. Remove the plug and fluid should dribble out. If it doesn't it's low, fill until it dribbles out, while engine is running. Obviously the truck must be on a lift or up on jackstands.

SOURCE: how to fill transmission fluid 1999 isuzu rodeo ls

Lee2fixit doesn't know what he talks about on 99 Rodeos.

There is no dipstick tube - there are two access holes on the side of the transmission. The bottom one is to drain it out. The top one is to fill it back up. It is full when the fluid comes up to the bottom of the top hole.

Or you can take it to a dealer or service center to have it done.

under the truck you will see the large trans fluid pan. there are two 3/4 inch bolts. one recessed about 2 inches and one flush with the bottom of the pan.  The recessed one is the fill tube and the non recessed one is the drain.  You will need a pump of some sort to pump the fluid in the fill tube until it starts draining out.  I think if you start the truck the fluid will lower and you can put more fluid in until it drains again.  I dont know yet what kind of fluid to use.

SOURCE: transmission fluid level

I have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo however when I purchased the vehicle I managed to obtain a service manual on mine.
Mine is a V-6 3.2liter engine with automatic transmission and it took me a while to find out where I added transmission fluid at too.

It is located under the vehicle on the Passenger side of the vehicle and it is located on the transmission just before the transfer case. There is like a eye beam across one side to another then there is like a Indent the lower one is for drain and the upper one with a larger bolt like plug is the fill hole. I used a turkey baster with a large bulb like affair to **** the transmission fluid in to it from the bottle then I inserted the baster up and into the hole vacated by the plug. Then squeezed the fluid into the transmission and kept at it till the fluid dripped out on its own. I hurried and inserted the plug into the hole and screwed into it and tightened it up and lowered the vehicle down checked after the vehicle had been warmed up and re jacked the vehicle up and rechecked and all I needed was a small squirt into it and it was full and since then it has been running really well since.

SOURCE: 1995 isuzu trooper manual transmission

Hello smeet3992: The transmission uses 5w-30 for tempretures up to 95 degreese in tempreture. Uses 15w-40 for all tempretures greater then 50 degreese. If you are in an area that has extreme fluctuation in tempretures I would use the 15w-4o engine oil. I also senrt a picture of where to check the oil at. Make sure you pull the right plug. The reverse idler pin has the same size bolt head.

How much transmission fluid do you need to fill a 2002 Izuzu Rodeo

in the absence of car manual, fill initially with one liter/qrt of transmission fluid. check for leaks and start engine. with transmission in park, slowly add transmission fluid with engine at idle. constantly monitor transmission fluid level with vehicle on level position until fluid level in "cold", then drive vehicle approximately for one mile until fluid is warmed up or hot. recheck fluid level with engine idling and on park. Add if necessary until fluid level in Hot position in dip stick. then your done. write down how much fluid you added for future reference.

Were do u fill trans fluid 2002 isuzu rodeo

That vehicle has no dipstick. There are two plugs on the transmission pan. The lower one drains the fluid, the higher one is for the fluid level. When you open the upper plug and the drivetrain is warmed up, fluid should be level (close) to the bottom of the plug hole. Inotherwords, a small amount spilling out when you open the plug indicates that the transmission is full. This is also the hole that is used for adding fluid.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Where do i put transmission fluid in a 2002 Isuzu rodeo

As far as I have found the 02 Isuzu Rodeo does not have a transmission fluid dipstick you have to in fact go under your vehicle to check, change and fill your transmission fluid. Transmission fluid level: You will have two plugs facing downward on the larger trans pan. The plug higher up on the pan is the fill/level check (stamped/recessed into the rear right corner of pan). ATF should just dribble from this plug on a hot, idling truck, in neutral on a level surface. The lower one is the drain. The one at the back of the pan in a recess is the filler. You need a hand pump or something similar to fill it to overflowing then top it off with the engine running. Make sure you shift through the gears a couple of times when topping off.

Location of transmission dipstick on 2002 isuzu rodeo

Hello, Unfortuanetly the Rodeo does not have a dipstick and you must have a service technician check your transmission fluid by removing bolts on the tranny as if your were going to drain the transmission. I hope this helps you with your problem. A technician should not charge to much to do this for you either.

How to check the transmission fluid in a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo

Transmission fluid level:
This type of vehical has a sealed transmssion and there's no way one can check the transmission fluid level. There are two plug at the bottom of the transmission the drain and the filter.

As you don't have an ATF dipstick, you will have two plugs facing downward on the larger trans pan.
Good luck and hope this helps

My 2002 isuzu rodeo transmission is slipping should i first get it flushed before buying a transmission?

We had the same problem with a 2002 Rodeo. The transmission must be replaced. But keep in mind the Powertrain Warranty (yes this does cover the transmission) on 2000-2003 Rodeo's is 10yr/120,000 miles. Call 800-255-6727 with your vin# and they will verify. Good luck!
