The torque converter clutch circuit may be at fault. The best way to determine the problem is to have a scanner/computer to read check engine codes.

SOURCE: How to Turn off Service Traction Control and ESC messages

I had this problem with my 2007 HHR. I drove away with the service engine and the service traction light on. The car was stuttering through the gears. I took it back and they checked it. They disconnect some wires while they change the oil and one was loose. The service engine turned off but the service traction stayed on. We disconnected the battery for 3 minutes and it fixed the problem. Some of those other guys spent up to 300 dollars to fix the problem. Hope it works out for you.

Hello and welcome. the engine reduce power waraning is the key to the other problems. this is normally a problem with the electronic throttle system. the engine control module disables the traction control system when it detects a engine problem, in your case a problem with the electronic throttle system. you shouldnt drive with this concern. this is normally covered under the vehicles 100,000 mile warranty. you need to conteact your nearest dealer for help

Why did the reduced engine power and service traction light come on. The car can be started then looses power and stalls out.

When the check engine light comes on it disables other module features as a safety issue. The reduced engine power light is normally caused by a defective throttle actuator motor assembly. In some instances, it can also be caused by a defective gas pedal sensor as well. In my experience, the throttle actuator motor is the most common repair

My Reduced Power light comes on for no apparent reason and service traction stabilizer light also, truck chugs and rpms go up but no power to go over 20mph

Your reduce power light is on for an apparent reason, it is running rough! Scan for a code and it may end up being a bad throttle position sensor and dirty throttle body.

I have a 2009 GMC Sierra that has service engine messages Service Stabilitrack and Service Traction Control. Engine is idling roughly. Searched other sites and recommendations from others and was directed...

you ask for suggestions. here is one. run the engine in park at 2000 rpm. for a minute see if you smell the catalytic converter fumes. they smell like rotten eggs. I don't think that the two problems are related, since the warning lights are about the VTC it should not affect the engine sync while is in park

What causes the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" warning lights to come on?

the "Reduced Engine Power", problem causes the PCM to disable "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" turning on the warning lights to come on for those systems . The reduced engine power is because of a problem with the electronic throttle control system or as GM calls it TAC system . Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the TP, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Traction conrol

The traction control light is on to let you know that system is disabled. I would say the actual problem is a performance issue with the engine.
You should have someone scan the computer for trouble codes to proceed with testing. A 2010 model may still be under factory warranty.

WHat does it mean when your traction control indicator comes on and says it has reduced your engine power?

Hello Jeremy.
When your traction light comes on it is indicating wheel spin on acceleration. To prevent wheel spin an onboard computer reduces engine power to limit the wheel spin. Some, if not most, cars equipped with this feature will also apply the brakes if wheel spin continues after reducing engine power.
Hope this answers your question.
