98 gmc jimmy fuel guage not working

No issues with the fuel guage that I know of , but you can follow the basic troubleshooting guidelines. Starting with the wiring disconnect at the fuel tank for a bad connector or bad connection. Only other connection would be up to the instrument cluster in the vehicle. Only replaceable items would be the guage or the sending unit in the fuel tank. You can disconnect the return line circuit or connector at the at the gas tank and jump a wire to the ground the that feeds the gauge and see if the guage moves, but don't and i repeat don't hold to long because the guage will go over hard over and could damage the guage. If the guage moved and I would suspect a bad float on the sending unit or a bad sending unit, either case the fuel pump assy would have to come out for repairs.

I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY 1500 5.3L. THE TEMP. GUAGE PEGS OUT BUT IT IS NOT RUNNING HOT. I CHANGED THE SENDING UNIT STILL THE SAME.

You may have a bad guage. To check, ground out the sender by placing a screwdriver or alligator clips accross the ground tab and the center positive terninal. If the guage works you would normally expect a sender problem, but since you put on a new sender (assuming it's wired correctly [ no offense ]) you will need to trace t the wires from the guage to the SU. The fuel guage power lead is pink ( or at least it is on boats ) Look for a bad connection, corrosion, frayed wires or anything else that looks abnormal. You may want to simply replace the existing wire temporarily with another wire. This new wire should tell you immediately if your guage is bad. Good luck!

2007 F350 4x4 regular cab V10 gas guage quit working I had the sending unit and fuel pump changed the fuel guage went to 1/4 and sat there. Any tips? Fuel guage wont work.

I'm assuming this has dual tanks, do you know if it is not working on both tanks ?
Most people would check the circuit for the gauge at the tank. The sending unit grounds the gauge on the dash.

Gas guage only reads empty always, ive took down the gas tank and everything is ok there, i performed risisastance test and the unit went from 16 ohms to 150 ohms whitch i took that it is working, so with...

If you ground the wire from the gauge to the sender with the ignition on the gauge should go past full. If it doesn't you'll have to trace that circuit all the way back to the gauge. If that circuit is OK you may have a bad gauge or no power to it. If the gauge does go past full when you ground the fuel gauge wire your sending unit may not be grounded. I'm assuming there is a float on the sending unit.

2001 chevy 1500 5.3l 4x4 fuel guage not working. changed sending unit no change. grounded gauge in dash went to full not guage. not getting power to sending unit fuses/ wiring good

You won't get power at the sending unit. The sending unit provides a variable ground to the dash unit. Where did you ground the dash unit? If you disconnect the sending unit at the tank and ground the fuel gauge circuit there the gauge should go to full. If if doesn't the problem is between that connector and the place you cheched it before. If it does the problem is with the sender. Occasionally new parts are found to be defective.

Replaced Fuel Sending unit on 1986 Chevy Truck

Check the ground wire at the wiring harness at the fuel tank. If it has a good connection then check the power wires to the tank. You may have a bad pigtail going to the tank. A replacement harness is available at NAPA.

My gas gauge is stuck on full in my 2000 ford mustang

You will need to locate the wire to the fuel sending unit at the fuel tank.

Once you locate the wire, disconnect it and see if the guage goes to 'E". If the guage goes to "E", you probably have a bad sending unit.

To double check, ground the same wire to clean metal on the frame with the key in the "on" position (not running). If the guage does not move, the guage is bad. If the guage moves from E to F, the sending unit needs to be replaced.
