Won't go over 30 miles an hour without terrible whining noise.

It starts out fine and then a light whing noise. It gets pretty bad when i hit about 30 miles an hour. What it feels like to me is that the car is not going into the proper gear so if i try to go above 30 it causes a terrible whining noise.

What is making this 08 caliber 2.0L sxt cvt have a High pitched whining sound at idle and driving?

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one

2001 celica gt Hatch has a whining sound. 10,2000 miles(.Tran Fluid is up but dark with a barely red color.) When its warming up I hear a new whining sound. The car is a combo standard and automatic. ...

trans will raise line pressure when cold that will cause hydraulic pump to scream causing that noise, so check your temperature gage and t-stat to make sure its getting up to temperature has intended by manufacture a cold engine will hold gears longer and at hi press until working temp is reached. good luck.

Sounds like a charging problem. When your battery runs low there is not enough current to operate the sensors properly. When you charged the battery it thought the system was fine till it gets low again. I would have your alternator checked and battery. Good luck and have a great day.
