How do I remove and replace the alternator on a 2005 ford Focus 2.0
Just pulled my alternator out of my 2.0 2005 ford focus. you have to remove it from the top. Removing the power steering fluid reservoir, Radiator reservoir, and the heat shield from the exhaust. Good luck. It wasn't fun. Also I am having a hard time finding a replacement under $250.

Just took one out last night. It also was stuck. Had to use small pry bar to get off the front mount. Sprayed the mount with PB blast to help. You do have to use some force, becareful not to break any electrical connections. Once the front mount was free, I had to pry up on it using a small hatchet. Only thing that would fit and actually be able to pry. The alternator became twisted from prying only on one side, so I used a block of wood and tapped it back straight. It finally released from the mounts and came loose. Then the fun begins in trying to actually get it out. Had to disconnect everything around it, took two people and alot of twisting and turning. Not looking forward to getting it back in. Removal took over 2 hours.

SOURCE: fuel pump replacement on 2005 ford focus
Are you sure that you need to replace the pump? I drive a 54 plate mk2 1.6 zetec that wouldn't always start and I was told it was the fuel pump in the tank but because the fault was intermitant I didn't have it fitted and found out that the car didn't start because the fuel lift pump wasn't priming the system before starting. I found that there was a faulty connection on the relay for the pump that is in the compartment under the glove compartment.
