Check Engine Light. I have p420 P440 and P446 codes

You need a Catalytic converter and possibly a Evap. cannister

The check engine light is on. the scan reads 441 and 445

1st. Make sure your fuel filler cap is tight, clean, and sealed well.
These are codes set when there is a fuel vapor leak.

P0441 EVAP Control System Improper Purge Flow.
P0446 EVAP Control System Vent Control.

This indicated a problem with the evap emission control system. This is the part of the emission controls that captures gas vapors in the tank, stores them temporarily in a charcoal canister, and then burns them by "purging" the charcoal canister into the intake.

Could be something as simple as a loose or faulty gas cap. Can also be vacuum lines for the purge valve and canister or a bad purge valve itself.

This code is infamous code, its a bit complicated if not mechanical incline, I would recommend finding an of duty Toyota mechanic to do a side job. There are plenty of those guys will do side work and will save you big bucks, however you will have to asked around when you get the next oil change. any repair manual will have proper instructions. same time, purge valve is either bad or clogged. i'd, also, clean EGR valve.

the cannister is mounted in the rear underside of car above the rear crossmember, you either have to remove the exhaust or lower the rear crossmember to gain access to the charcoal cannister.. there is also a vsv valve that mounts on the air cleaner housing.
these would be the 2 common items that can set these codes although there can be other issues that can set the codes you have
most of the testing is done with a scan tool . and vacuum pump there are a few test to do with a voltmeter.

What causes the check engine light to come on in a toyota echo 2004

take it to autozone and have the fault codes read for free
the charcoal cannister that they speak of is the EVAP cannister and if there is a problem with it it will show as a fault code
it has a purge valve and a purge valve solenoid for operation , both of which can be replaced separately
when you hear" I think " , time to find an accredited service center that has experience on your make pf vehicle and get a second opinion
the gas tank neck is a rubber section and comes up in the code as a small leak
a simple loose gas cap will put the light on

2005 Toyota Echo. front end noise (rattling/rumbling) when I am stopped at a light.

I had this on my 2002 Yaris, with 103,000 miles on the clock. I found that the rear engine mounting rubber bush was partly torn and the charcoal cannister was loose (not inserted in bracket properly). I installed a used rear engine mount off e-bay, straightened the cannister bracket and inserted it properly. Knocking noise at low revs now sorted.

My name Tommy V, I have a 2001 Toyota Echo, the CK engine light was on, went to a car parts store used their code reader, code was PO441 Evaporative emission control -System incorrect, purge flow. I used...

The EVAP cannister is part of the emissions system. Excess exhaust runs thru it-purge flow is when it is released. Check all the vacuum lines going to it. I don't you will find a parts listing for a purge flow valve or vent or solenoid. Your light will probably come on again shortly.

Mar 15, 2010 | 2001 Toyota Echo

Evaporative system

The system consists of a charcoal cannister that collects gas vapors from the fuel tank. It stores these vapors until certain engine conditions are met, and then a purge valve/solenoid opens and the vapors are used in the combustion process. A faulty gas cap will cause the problem if it is not sealing or venting properly. A bad purge solenoid could also not be allowing the cannister to purge and the cannister could be full.

That's a basic synopsis. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Check engine light is on...

I am not going to lie, I came across this in another forum a while back and I would love to retype it and interpret it here but it is too much. I looked at it and verified that the information here is information that could be found through my scan tools so here it is!

The fuel tankmag-glass_10x10.gif pressure is atmospheric pressure after the vehicle is driven for 20 min (2 trip detection logic).

Possible Problems
Fuel tank cap incorrectly installed <= Most common
Fuel tank cap cracked or damaged (Toyota part only)
Bad vapor pressure sensor/circuit
Vacuum hose cracked, holed, blocked, damaged or disconnected
Hose or tube cracked, holed, damaged, or loose
Fuel tank/filler neck cracked, holed, or damaged
Charcoal canister cracked, holed, or damaged (collision)

In above description, check hoses between vapor pressur sensor and VSV for vapor pressure sensor and charcoal canister. Also, hose between charcoal canister and fuel tank.

Toyota T100 OBDII Code P0450 - Pressure Sensor Malfunction

P0450 deals with the Vapor Pressure Sensor, in the fuel tank vapor circuit. Buying a charcoal canister would not cure this.
Go to a Toyota dealer and tell the parts guy that you want a
Vapor Pressure Sensor.
It is on the vapor line, before the charcoal canister.

After you replace the sensor, remove the EFI fuse to clear the code.

I hope that this answers your question.
