My 1998 astro van blower motor only works on high speed.

I changed the heat control assembly but the blower still only works on high speed. is the motor gone bad?

Question. I have the same problem with my heater fan or motor working on high sometimes. Where exaclty is the motor and resister under hood, or inside by the passengers floor board?
What does the resister look like, and are these parts bought at the junk yard or at a auto parts store?

The resistor is located behind the window washer reservoir and the over flow reservoir on the right side just below and to the left of the blower motor. Just follow the blower motor wires right to it. And by the dealer one as it will fit properly. $60?
It has 2 small screws on either side and hard to reach.

No the motor is not bad or going bad, the heater blower motor resister is bad, thats regulates the blower speeds, its located under dash by heater motor 2 screws hold in heater box with a electrical plug to it.

What is an AC diode fuse? I have a 2006 AWD Pontiac Torrent the AC/Heat doesn't work, I've changed all fuses for the HAVAC and still no AC/Heat blowing out of vents. What could be the problem?

Could be a number of thing's ! Testing the electrical circuit is the way to find out what's wrong . Using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter . Videos on youtube showing how to test it ! Without testing i would only be guessing . Does it work in high speed ? In high speed it by-passes the resistor . If it doesn't work in any speed more then likely the blower motor is the problem !
Air Speed
The HVAC control assembly applies ground to the blower motor control circuit that corresponds to the selected blower speed. The resistors and the blower motor are in a series circuit. The following list represents the number of resistors in series with the blower motor per particular speed request:
• Low speed--3 resistors
• Medium 1 speed--2 resistors
• Medium 2 speed--1 resistor
When the operator requests High speed, the HVAC control assembly applies ground directly to the blower motor through the high blower motor control circuit. The resistor card has a fusible link which, if blown, will require that the card be replaced.

1998 Astro Van Heater AC Blower only works on medium & Low

Yes, in high it bypasses the resistor and uses a high blower relay. But I think on 1998 Astro the High relay and the resistor are built together. It should be mounted in the blower box real close to the blower motor.

Motor heater not working on low and sometimes on high

Blower/Heater Switch Operation: 0900823d8004c694.jpgThis electrical switch, located in a fuse or breaker protected circuit, controls the rpm of the blower motor through a series of control relays and a rheostat. Sometimes the A/C compressor clutch is energized by this switch.
