My Mitsubishi Lancer hesitates when I'm driving. Like, I have problems going up a very very slight hill, and I know I'm in the correct gear for the hill. My service engine light is on with a code of "cylinder 2 misfire". I changed the spark plugs and wires, but it didn't help. I also cleaned out the fuel injectors. What else could it possibly be?
Before anything i had the problem and this is the way i solved it ... the lancer has 2 ignition coils in 2 cylinders what you do is take the iginition coil out of the cylinder that is misfiring and change it to another cylinder and put the car on the odb reader again it should change location of misfire .. then that would tell you that its the ignition coil thats bad i ended up getting my coil at the dealer for $110 ebay has some aftermarket pairs for $100 so you can get 2 now for the price i paid for 1 that will solve the problem guaranteed owne d a lancer for 5 years know the ups and downs to them

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 02 that has the same problems. The diognostics say "2nd cylinder misfiring." A mitsubishi mechanic says I need a tune up???? He says I need to use the manufacturers spark plugs, spark plug wires, and coil boot. That should fix the problem.
My 2003 oz rally's check engine light is on. I was told it was the spark plugs, a gasket, the 1st port O2 sensor or the cat. I changed everything except the cat. I called to price check a universal cat, the guy told me my lancer has two cat converters. A rear one and a front one...., is this true?
