Mazda3 starter jammed

For the 2012 model year, Mazda began offering the Mazda3 with their newly developed SkyActiv technology, including a more rigid body, a new direct injection engine, and a new 6-speed transmission.[6]
The current third generation was introduced in mid-2013 as a 2014 model." My guess is the transmission from 2004 to 2009 mike be cross compatible. I would go to Autozone and ask or call the parts department at department at a local Madza dealer.

Did the same thing to a late 90s MR2 I believe, put an aftermarket intake in it, went puddle jumping in the PNW and sucked up a sizeable amount of water and had to replace the whole engine...

Also, I have a Mazda 3 and the way the airbox sits in the front of the car leaves a fair chance water sprayed up into the bottom of it can get sucked into the engine as it just sits on top of the lower air intake and there is nothing sealing the two. In the pic, its piece #11 that sort of snorkels itself into piece #3 without much holding them together, they just sort of sit on one another. My money is on you sucking up a sizeable chunk of H2O and trashing the motor.

For 1996 Mazda MX-6 2.5L MFI DOHC 6cyl the Fuel Filter is located under hood, driver side, engine side of strut tower, below air filter housing, mounted in fuel line.

2002 Mazda Protege5 with the FS2.0 Motor. The EGR Valve is located below the throttle-body. You must take off the Intake tube to get a good view of it. To replace it I think you might have to take off the throttle-body.

Replacing the starter while the engine is cold is recommended. A hot engine can result in personal injury.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the magnetic switch on the starter motor.
3. Disconnect the remaining electrical connections at the starter.
4. Remove the nuts and/or bolts securing the starter to the bell housing, then pull the starter toward the front of the vehicle to remove.

To install:

1. Insert the starter into the bell housing being sure that the starter drive teeth are engaged with the flywheel teeth, not jammed against the flywheel.
2. Tighten the attaching hardware to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm) and replace all electrical connections.

Remove or disconnect the following:

• Negative battery cable
  
• Air inlet duct
  
• Top starter bolt
  
• Lower starter bolt
  
• Starter electrical connectors
  
• Starter motor

To install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   
   • Starter motor. Torque the bolts to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm) for 2.4L engine or 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm) for the 2.2L (VIN 4) engine or 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) for the 2.2L (VIN F) engine.
     
   • Starter electrical connectors
     
   • Air inlet duct to the throttle body
     
   • Negative battery cable
     

The starter motor on the MPV is located on the underside of the engine on the passenger side. If your MPV is four wheel drive it will be virtually impossible to see even if you are lying on your back under the vehicle. If you plan to take it out let me know as I have some experience with this situation.
