I had the same issue with my dodge caravan and after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it turned out to be a broken wire. They replaced the relay and it would work for a while and then go blank again. Have the wires checked thoroughly.

in the fuse panel under the hood beside the battery there is a fuse marked IOD in your nearest right hand corner facing the vehicle. Pull the fuse, wait 3 min. Reinstall fuse.

No kiddin'. That's it.

SOURCE: Airbag dash light

Transport Canada Vehicle Recalls & Defects Database Transport Canada Recall # 2007169 Recall Date:  2007/05/30 Notification Type:  Recalls Audit System:  Airbag Manufacturer Recall Number:  G09 Units Affected:  question.gif 51,000 Category: Minivan Recall Details: On certain vehicles the left or right front supplemental airbag sensors may crack under certain conditions, which can allow water to enter into the sensor. This can cause the airbag warning lamp to illuminate. A malfunction of one or both of the supplemental sensors will not adversely affect safety or cause a failure to comply with government standards. The single-point sensor in these vehicles, which is located in the airbag control module, is operational even if both supplemental sensors are inoperative. DaimlerChrysler has decided to launch a Customer Satisfaction Notification to advise customers that these front airbag sensors will be replaced with redesigned sensors to reduce the potential for damage. This action is not being conducted under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

1990 dodge caravan Le,the dash gauges all turn off after 10 sec of starting the van

ALWAYS check the body grounds first. Ground to the dash gages could be faulty, dirty, or just not tight enough to make a good connection.

there is a relay in the fuse box under the hood that may be defectve.also the ground from the battery to the block may need cleanig, you can confirm that by putting a jumper cable from the battery neg. to the block and see if it will start.to check the relay pull it out and figure out where pin 30 and 87 end up in the relay plug and jump them,it should crank if the relay is shot.

2002 Dodge Caravan- Most of the time the panel lights do not work. They do ocassionaly work when we have to do something around the battery but we cant figure out why. We dont know if its something we are...

Ok, I'll try my best to get you through this...now, for clairification, we are talking about the dash lights, correct?
Most interior lighting draws power from the underdash fuse/relay box, it's on the left side by the driver's feet.
But, this relay/fuse panel is feed by the underhood relay/fuse box, which is right beside the battery. By simply moving things around your making the lights come on, this has me believing that it is a wiring issue. Do what's called a wiggle test, just start pulling on the wiring around the battery (not too hard) and have someone watch the dash lights, when you get a change your in the right area. Check the wiring connectors for green corrosion and loose wires, Let me know what you find, and we will go from there....
Good Luck..
