We have a 1988 jeep wrangler 4.2l 6 cyl that we are looking for the vacuum diagrams for. We have the chilton book but it is not giving us the exact info we need. Please help!

you can find what you need at your local library, they can show you what books to look up, and even print the information for you, normally for about 10 cents a copy.

Engine stalls occasionally even with new ignition system

The powdery black substance tells me that your egr valve is not working. And that is operated by the vacum sysem. The pipe has probebly come of the EGR valve.

Need diagram of vacuum system for 1988 jeep comanche pick-up 6 cy

Haynes manual has a diagram. Main important hookups are to power brake booster, fuel pressure regulator and map sensor. also need a connection to a/c controls inside drivers compartment and evap system canister. will also need connection to egr valve solenoid if you have one. as well as pcv on valve cover (or ccv which replaces pcv on some)
