Installing a used engine in my boat

I need to relace the engine in my boat, I am considering using a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel engine. In order to match the propeller/ gearbox etc I need to know the rpm which produces the best engine torque. I also need the torque in foot pounds or metric equivalent. Usually this is shown on an engine performance graph. I have been unable to find a graph. The engine was powering a compressor. I'm sorry I don't have an engine number. Assume its the same as the engine fitted to a Massey Ferguson Tractor mid 1970's.

This is a random choice for your engine.
You would really need the model and probably the serial to get the correct specs.
The Perkins Model AD3.152 engine used in Massey Ferguson 135 tractors built between 1968 and 1975 had the following torque specs.
45 hp
1211 ft pounds of torque at 1300 RPM
Max RPM was 2000

SOURCE: massey ferguson 3655

sounds like the seals are gone on the 4wd shaft, it takes oil pressure to keep the 4wd off, but if the seals are worn the all passes through and the 4wd will not dissingage, you will need a experianced michanic

SOURCE: trying to fit my own head gasket on pinto engine

Use no sealer or treatment of any kind. To torque the head bolts you must go in a military rotation.Think of it as a spiral starting with one of the center bolts and working your way out to the ends. The torquing should be done in three stages, fist bring them down to 30 foot lbs. then going from the center again, this time in the opposing spiral, bring them down to 60 foot lbs. And lastly, bring them down to the specified tightness in your manual usually around 85-90 foot lbs. On the thrid sequence return to the original spiral direction that you started out with. Good luck, Dana

and all are rare.
most of these back then, me on the road too a loaded truck was going 40 to 50 mph; under even small hills.
the speed would be limited to max diesel RPM. then.

Mitsubishi pajero 3.2 DID firing order on diesel injection pump? 4m41 engine

What year is the vehicle? Mitsubishi used two different systems on that engine. Before 2006 they used a Fuel Injection Pump and after 2006 they used a Common Rail system.
An injection pump is a mechanical setup that is driven by the timing belt to make sure it matches the engine speed when driving.
A common rail system uses an electronic signal to fire each injector at the correct moment from a shared fuel supply rail on the engine.
In general the injector firing order needs to match the mechanical firing order of the engine so the fuel is injected into the correct cylinder at the correct moment. The Firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2. Number 1 is nearest the engine belts and pulleys.

Whats the firing order on a perkins 354 petrol motor and where is piston number 1

Are you sure this is a 354 engine? I can only find reference to that series of engines as straight 6 Diesel.
Engine layout is fairly standard. Cylinder 1 is nearest the pulleys and belts. The firing order will possibly depend on the fuel type, series or version of the engine you have.
I have attached a website that will help you find the engine serial number on the engine block. This will give you the series code number making it easier to identify what detail you need.

Can a Perkins 4.300 engine be fitted in a matbro teleram 40d.

Perkins aren't my favourite engines - some were fairly good hard working and reliable but some were awful. Shelvoke and Drewry (SD) used Perkins and I have never been in a noisier vehicle. My biggest grouch about them was they never used a single bolt where three smaller bolts would do the job - the pressed steel covers never seemed quite up to the task of keeping oil inside, the cylinder heads were slender to say the least and manifolds seemed to hang on more by magic than any substantial mechanical method.
The 4.300 is now getting on in years...

Any engine can be made to fit into almost anything depending on the engineering capabilities of those who are carrying out the conversion.
The important thing about any conversion is to ensure the replacement engine will be able to satisfactorily do the work, especially when being fitted to a work-horse. Studying the torque and power output graphs of the former and proposed replacement and hopefully finding them similar at similar speeds should be a priority.

It should be borne in mind two identical diesel engines can have very different characteristics depending on the injection equipment setup. There is a world of difference between the setup for a truck engine intended for local town and country deliveries and a full-rated truck or coach engine intended for main road work.
Replacing the injection pump and injectors for a different setup is an expensive business...
