Transmission makes a chirping sound from 1st to 2nd

Under hard acceleration my transmission makes a chirping noise from 1st to 2nd in my 98 crown vic. i also noticed this in my friend's 99 grand marquis and an other friend's e150 work van.what is this chirping noise? and is it foreshadowing a problem with my tranny or torque converter?

Aww, you're just bragging that the tires skip a little bit when it slams into the next gear during hard acceleration. Let up on the gas, lead-foot. ;)

SOURCE: Wiper motor replacement for a 99 crown vic

I replaced the same part on a 1994 Crown Vic. There are a few bolts which go through rubber mounts on the firewall and that is how the wiper motor fits against the firewall. There is a clip on the wiper drive that must be pressed and slid off the wiper shaft. The hardest part was getting clearence between the engine and wiper motor. If I remember there was a way to turn the wiper case to clear the engine. I have asked myself why this was engineered like this? There is nothing important in the way that 3/4" of clearance could have been given for removal.

Why is my 96 crown vic hot and slow?

sounds like a transmission issue. could be a pump or something as simple as really old fluid. not something your likely to repair at home. and unfortunately check engine lights only come on for emissions related issues so most transmission codes don't set the light to let you know there is an issue. you can go down to local auto parts store and have them pull the codes and se if there are any transmission codes. the getting hot in the cab could be from increased temps from the transmission but from the sounds of it you may not have a prayer for saving the transmission. but don't loose all hope start with getting the codes and see where you are. hope this was helpful.

Why is my crown vic slow and hot?

I would say your exhaust converter is worn out & blocking
the exhaust from getting out & since you continued to wonder ,
verses actually having the car tested, that you now have ruined the transmission

98 crown vic transmission slipping

Change the filter and fluid. This car if the transmission is original should have a torque converter drain. Drain the torque converter also,it gets almost all the fluid out of the transmission. Doing this the car will require almost 12 quarts of fluid. Worth a shot. I change mine at 25000 mile intervals.

Transmission is shifting hard in my 2004 pontiac grand am

It does have a dipstick can be hard to find though check behind the motor kind tucked under the fire wall the grinding sounds unrelated to the hard shifting since it happens when your in park and the only trans parts rootating at that time is the torque converter and input shaft that fact that its not constant kinda points me more toward the belt system either a bad tensioner, water pump, power steering pump, a/c compressor or clutch, or an idler pullley

1996 Crown Vic, Valve noise under heavy acceleration

No use what's in there, but have the engine de-carboned by a Ford dealer, or remove the octane adjust shorting bar located near the ignition module (retards timing 2 degrees), this will in most cases cure the issue unless there is allot of carbon in the cylinders. There are also methods of ing this de-carbon procedure at home, check on the internet for tips.

Honda accord exr 1987 automatic trans.

It's hard to understand when you say it feels like a manual shift. Noise? Feel? I do know that the 87 auto trans does have a weak 1st to 2nd shift drum (as explained to me by my mechanic) that makes a grinding, elongated shift under heavy acceleration when it starts to wear. Under normal acceleration, 1st to 2nd shifts were normal (crisp, immediate). Since that day 8 years ago, I've avoided starting off to quickly, and so far have saved myself a tranny overhaul.
