Question about 2007 Chevrolet Equinox
My car originally sent a message that said Engine hot/ a/c off. I got out of car and the fan was running at full speed. I hooked up a scan tool. It said motor was 165, therefore, not hot. I went to alldata. It told me to remove the pcm and ect connector and place dielectric grease in the area. I did this. Now the car will not start. I checked all fuses....none are bad. I have lights, radio, blower fan, window power, etc. It is now saying service engine soon. Service stabilitrak, service traction control. Any answers?//Think it might be the pcm, but without assess to GM website, I can't be sure.
it's too early to tell. i,ve never known a light to come on because of a thermostat.you need to see what code was stored. without knowing,im just guessing. but my first thought was a plugged up catalytic converter. that explains the low power, also fuel filter.

the engine light is a generic fault indicator in your car to point out something is not quite right with the engine, having a loss of power as well is also known in some areas as Limp Mode or Safety Mode. it means the car is restricting the power it gives to ensure no damage it done to the engine.
the only certain way to find out what is wrong is to take it to a garage that has diagnostics equipment that can read the fault codes from the vechicles ECU (the fault codes will be the reason the light on the dash has come on as its reporting a fault somewhere)..
your mechanic should be able to tell you what is wrong with the engine from that and give you a more accurate cost at fixing it.

SOURCE: reduced engine power on
The traction control uses the speed sensor in the transmission and the wheel speed sensors to determine wheel spin. If a wheel spins braking is applied to it so that the power can be transferred to the other wheels. At some point the ECU detected a gross disagreement between the sensors and so as a precaution has entered into a limp home mode. On some systems if the fault is in error it can be cleared by putting the car into drive and moving forward a meter, putting in reverse and going a back a meter and doing this three times. If one or other of the sensors are faulty this process will not allow the error to be cleared. You need to check or have checked the error codes and the speed sensors.

Tips for a great answer:
This means that the engine's PCM detected that the engine has not reached the required temperature level within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. The intent of the P0128 code is to indicate a faulty thermostat. Similar codes: P0125
In determining the engine did not reach a "normal" temperature, it takes into account the length of time the vehicle has been running, the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor reading, the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor reading, and the speed of the vehicle.
A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. However here are some suggestions on troubleshooting and repairing a P0128 OBD-II code:
I hope this helps a bit!
