Question about 2006 Audi A3 2.0T

Open Question

I need help rewiring aftermarket headunit to stereo system. Audi A3 2006 with Bose Premium Sound.

The connector was removed so all I have is the wire bundles coming from the sounds system. The person who wired it did it incorrectly, they wired the RCA outputs to the front/rear door speakers (with ground not hooked up), and and nothing to the amp/sub. It sounds bad and whines with engine rpm and brake application, I think the grounding is screwy. Thanks.

You can't use any of those - the large connector at the OEM speakers is because the rears are amplified. Your factory head unit puts out a line level signal to the rear speakers. There's an amplifier on the driver's side rear speaker (the box around the magnet that you can see from inside the trunk).

You need to either replace the head unit with an aftermarket one to drive your new speakers, or you need to tap into the amp connector and find the line level wires, break them out, put RCA plugs onto them, and plug them into an aftermarket amp, which you'd use to power your rear speakers. Doing it that way allows you to keep the factory head unit.

Hi, had total issues with this too! Your back speakers arent going because they are amped by the factory amp in the boot. You have to provide power to the amp so that it will turn the rear speakers on. This was a white and black striped wire in my car (Audi A3 1997) The rear speakers are blue /green and brown/red (left rear) , and the LH rear is brown/red and (forgotten colour) but the wire on the bottom left under those two brown/red wires on the 20pin harness. If you wire it all up like this then your rears should be going :)

I had the same problem a while back after having a JVC MP£ player fitted at Halfords. The guy told me my sub-woofer behind the back seat wouldn't work with the new stereo which I said was ridiculous, then one of the other guys came to look and told him I needed a different cable to link everything together - then it worked brilliantly.
Sorry I dont know a part number but that is definately your problem.
I hope this helps - or better still that you already have it sorted !!

Sounds like the ignition switch in the column is bad or has a bad connection at the connector. Look under the dash for a large bundle of wires coming from the steering column. Check all the connectors in that area for tightness .

I have an 96 chevy2500 and an enclosed trailer with lights that dont work. Checked fuses under the hood and in the cab. cannot find a blown fuse. Is there anywhere else it would be? Was working before


Most likely you have some wiring problems. Your rear break light wiring is connected to the trailer light bundle connector. I will guess that connector has losened, or wires going into and out of the connector are loose, corroded or? There must also be good ground wire connection. That too could be the problem. usually in the connector bundle, but it may be separate. Its connections may also be affected by corrosion.

WHERE IS THE TCM LOCATION


Your TCM should be in the front of the engine compartment on the left side, sort of behind the driver's headlight. There is a cluster of electronic parts. The largest box is the ECU, behind that is the second largest box. That is your TCM. There are two big wire bundle connectors on the ECU, and one wire bundle connector on the TCM. The TCM is usually pretty durable, so if you are having problems with it, check to make sure the plugs on the TCM and the ECU are all plugged in tightly, and none of the wires in the bundles are loose where they attach to the plug. Anything beyond that should be done by a mechanic who is familiar with the system.

FIRST TURN OFF RADIO, DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO DISARM AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL,WAIT 20 MINUTES,THEN REMOVE THE STEERING COLUMN COVERS AND THE DRIVERS KNEE BOLSTER.REMOVE THE TORX HEAD MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH SCREWS THEN DETACH THE SWITCH FROM THE STEERING COLUMN.TRACE THE MULIFUNCTION SWITCH WIRES DOWN TO THE LARGE CONNECTOR AND UNPLUG THE CONNECTORS FROM THE LARGER CONNECTOR THEN UNPLUG THE TWO TWO WIRE CONNECTORS FROM THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH AND SNIP THE WIRES TIES THAT BUNDLE THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH HARNESS TO THE OTHER HARNESS AT THE LARGE CONNECTOR REMOVE THE HARNESS WITH THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH.

How to check temperature sensor and how to replace it on a 2003 chevy impala 3.8l


Testing: many intermittent open or shorted circuits come and go with harness and connector movement caused by vibration, engine torque, bumps and rough pavement, etc.

Test the wiring harness and connectors by performing the following:
Move the related connectors and wiring while monitoring the appropriate scan tool data.
Move the related connectors and wiring with the component commanded ON and OFF, with the scan tool. Observe the components operation.
With the engine running, move the related connectors and wiring while monitoring engine operation.
If harness or connector movement affects the data displayed, the component and system operation, or the engine operation, inspect and repair the harness or connections as necessary

Test the electrical connections and/or wiring by performing the following:
Inspect for incorrect mating of the connector halves, or terminals not fully seated in the connector body, backed-out.
Inspect for improperly formed or damaged terminals. Test for incorrect terminal tension.
Inspect for poor terminal to wire connections including terminals crimped over insulation. This requires removing the terminal from the connector body.
Inspect for corrosion or water intrusion. Pierced or damaged insulation can allow moisture to enter the wiring. The conductor can corrode inside the insulation with little visible evidence. Look for swollen and stiff sections of wire in the suspect circuits.
Inspect for wires that are broken inside the insulation.

NOTE Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. Partially drain the cooling system.
  2. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the ECT sensor.

To install:

NOTE Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.
NOTE Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.
  1. Coat the threads with sealer GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent.
    NOTE Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the ECT sensor and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  3. Connect the ECT electrical connector.
  4. Fill the cooling system.

Low beam headlights do not work if steering wheel is tilted up.


REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER FROM AROUND THE " HIGH/LOW BEAM SWITCH " BETTER KNOWN AS A COMBINATION SWITCH. LOOK FOR A LOOSE OR DAMAGED WIRE, POSSIBLY RED WITH ORANGE. THE WIRE MAY BE LOOSE IN THE BEAM SELECT SWITCH. IF IT IS ONLY AFFECTED WHEN THE WHEEL IS TILTED IT COULD BE A BAD COMBINATION SWITCH.

How to replace a heater fan motor, is it changeable from the engine compartment?


No, but it isn't too hard to get to under dash. I will paste instructions from autozone.com below. Pictures may not come thru.

CAUTION The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before removing the blower motor assembly. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bag, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait 2 minutes before proceeding with the removal. This will effectively disable the air bag system preventing possible personal injury.
  2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
  3. Remove the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  4. Disconnect the blower motor wiring connector.
  5. Remove the blower motor wiring grommet and feed the wiring through the blower motor housing.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting screws.

  1. Allow the blower motor assembly to drop downward to clear the instrument panel and remove from vehicle.

To install:
  1. Place the blower motor assembly into position on the A/C-heater unit and tighten the mounting screws.
  2. Route the blower motor wiring through the blower motor housing and seat the wiring grommet in the hole of the blower motor housing.
  3. Reconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  4. Install the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  5. Install the glove box into the instrument panel.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Check blower motor operation.

Oxygen sensors on a 2007 pontiac grand prix? The error code says they are bad but is there a way to tell which one?


This is the tech info on how to test the O2 sensor:

How to replace a 2006 toyota corolla blower motor


Hi,
Try the following & I am sure about the results;

Remove two screws on bottom of front face of glove box
Remove Glove box
Heater is just behind the glove box on the right side (the motor points downward and the fan is in a big round shroud).
Un plug the cable bundles that get in the way of removing the blower moter (the motor will come straight down).
There are three bolts holding the blower assembly in place, remove them and the blower assembly can be removed (pull downward).

Hook the black wire from the new motor up to the connector were the wire with the line on it (from the truck) was and the red wire from the motor to the solid colored wire from the truck (the wires from the motor had leads that you could slide into the connector from the truck).
