SOURCE: suzuki sidekick timing

honestly you just need to buy a chilton or haines. there is a lot more to this than just a couple of instructions. you need a timing gun, tools, and to know where everything is. its easy but you need to see the instructions.

SOURCE: Suzuki Vitara speedometer pointer stopped moving

one thing that it could be isthe fuse.Check your manual as fuses are inside the car (dash area) and in the engine compartment.
One of these could have blown, the good thing is there is always a spare fuse near to the other fuses.
At least this will eliminate something for you.

Your hubs may not be locking. With your hubs in the locked position, raise the front tires off the ground, manually rotate each front tire and see if the axle connected to the tire spins along with the tire. If not your hubs may not be locking the wheel to the axle. Good luck.

Is there a fuse that protects the tachometer and temperature gage?

wow not even saying what it dont do?
the back light dead or needles dead?
sure all loads on every car made has a fuse
(cept starter)
why not post the full symptoms of what works or not.
then ask how to diagnosis it.,
does car run, and shift ok, doe head lights work
do the warning lights work in the cluster, keyon, no start?

the 1996 suzuki has the only free service

chapter 8a-81

no the IG-coil fuse runs the tachometer (electrics )
if IG-coil blows, engine dies.as does cluster lamp test. dead.

the speedometer is not electric its cable driven
is the odometer dead? if yes the cable is dead.

key on , all cluster lamps must glow
or IG coil is blown fuse or battery dead, or main fuse in engine bay blown.

1996 Suzuki sidekick 1.8L engine

The 1.8 is a J18 engine. On all Suzuki J engines, the crank position sensor is under the flywheel/flex plate. Yes, that will require pulling the engine or transmission. BUT the electrical connector to it is under the intake above the starter. So you can troubleshoot the system without pulling the motor. :) With this engine, the crank sensor is only used for miss-fire detection but will throw a code if bad.

What to replace if the speedometer on suzuki grand vitara doesn't work?

Hi Yrivera, Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. I think you'll find that one or more of the speed sensors are defective. You may have noticed that the ABS light is also on. If the vehicle is an older model (you didn't tell us much about the car) it may be the gearbox sender unit or on a vehicle which is older still, a broken cable. Regards John

Im trying to install a push to start button to replace ignition switch can this be done

Don't know about the 1991 because we just bought ours today, but we asked our fantastic mechanic to install one on our 1993 Sidekick and it has worked like a hot **** for two years now. Just find a good mechanic who doesn't need to operate inside the box.

Chevy s10 1996 speedometer doesn't work and not shifting correctly

i had the same problem. I replaced the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), mounted on transfer case if you have 4wheel and mounted on transmission if you have 2wheel. I also replaced the brake fuse. Then I disconnected the battery waited a little bit and then reconnected it. And what do you know it was all fixed up.

"N" is for Normal
"A/T" Is for Automatic Transmission
"P" is for Power

When "P" is selected a light that says "POWER"
comes on, it is just under the speedometer.

This switch is for the automatic transmission, it changes the shift points in the transmission for loaded or towing conditions when you need more power.
