SOURCE: check engine light came on and was blinking... the

A blinking check engine light indicates one or more cylinders is currently missfiring. You will have to scan the computer and get the code to determine which cylinder it was. Then you can start you diagnostics to figure out why it was missfiring.

Warning lights and loss of speedometer

Hello Anonymous,

If you have no "wrench light" displayed on your instrument panel then no fault codes have been logged.

Your vehicle has computers that monitor systems and will indicate any abnormal performance parameters and set the SES (Service Engine Soon) Indicator.

Please find some general information on the OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) systems used in today's vehicles.

Vehicle vibrates under acceleration but when you back off vibration disappears - saab 2.2 tdi

If this happens when acceleration in a straight line, it indicates either a cylinder misfire, in which case the MIL lamp will be lit or, you have worn CV joints at each end of the drive shafts to the driven wheels.

Outer CV wear is usually manifest by a 'rhythmic clicking' on turns under load. Vibration usually is inner CV wear.

Why do check engine light pop on & off for 95 Jeep laredo

If the light is flashing regularly while driving, this indicates a severe catalyst damaging misfire. You would most likely feel a noticable SHAKE or VIBRATION from the engine and/or a loss of power when an engine misfires. The flashing light also indicates a trouble code has been stored that will aid in diagnosis by a professional. Take your car in for service immediately.
If the light turns on sometymes, then minutes or days later turns off, but is not actively flashing while driving, this indicates a stored code level problem has been detected, and repairs are required, however no immediate damage is verified and vehicle is likely to be safe for operation until service can be arranged. get it checked anyway, as non-flashing codes can still be catalyst damaging, but not guaranteed to be...just the computer cant tell for sure so it assumes the best but it isnt always true. There are over 800 trouble codes for that vehicle that can turn the light on, so if you arent already comfortable with scantool diagnostics and own a tool...I recommend you take it to a qualified repairshop.
