1999 Dodge Intrepid engine jerks, cuts off when slows down/stops

Is the level of the fluid showing full ?

Sounds like a misfire. But honestly it could be anything. If the check engine light is on that could point you in the right direction

That code means that the connection to the battery had been interrupted in the last 50 starts. I dont believe that it has anything to do with the driving issue. The issue is causing the code. Check all the wiring to the battery and the fuse boxes and the ECM.

Jerks coming to a stop as in engine jerks, or does it seem like the brakes are jerking. When you leave off the pedal does it stop jerking? If it does it is probably warped rotors. A lot of new cars have this problem, my theory is that the brake pads they are using are way too hard. They put way too much heat into the rotor and warp it. Of course the rotors are none too heavy either. I think it is all in an effort to reduce weight in the vehicle.

You said it all. When a car jerks it means it is not firing as expected which could be due to fuel pressure not adequate, air intake not enough or too much, sparks not been produce at the right time or engine management problems (sensors etc). from what you said i would start with locating the source of the oil consumption. If there is visible oil around the engine, this might not be cause of the jerking. If the oil leaks is not visible it could be due to cylinder\piston wear. Dirty air filter, spark plugs, plugged fuel filter and bad spark plug cable could also cause jerking so you might want to consider giving your car a tune up also

This could be a number of things but my 99 ES had a bad speed sensor that caused similar problems. Your best to have a mechanic check and replace if needed.
Don't drive it too much before getting this fixed.

I would check the throttle patrol sensor

You need to have the computer tested for control system trouble codes by the dealer, it is very doubtful the computer itself is the problem, this is true less than 2% of the time, it not something u guess on as it costs around $300.
