Headlights work, but dashlights don't work

When I turn on the headlight switch, the headlights work, but not the dashlights. Sometimes the dashlights barely flicker, but then go dark.

The headlights are on a relay and maybe its getting weak. I would have it checked and replaced because it could go out and stay out.
God Bless Greg
Oh yeah most of the time it is built into the head light switch.

SOURCE: Jeep Headlights not working. High beam works

had the same problem on my 92....check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back.

Solution implys a diagnosis and no one can give an accurate diagnosis from the information you provided. I can however give a ist of possible tests to eliinate some possibilities. Check your battery voltage with a Digital Multimeter, next check the charging voltage, if you are unsure how to perform either of these tests check with a local autoparts store, they will try to sell you a battery so they have the equipment to check on hand. if this does not give any more information then try to clean and re connect grounds. let me know the outcome

1994 dodge dakota my headlights and tail lights and brake lights don't work my abs and parking brake lights are on my dash lights don't work either I replaced the headlight switch and still no

These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse.
Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?

1994 Pontiac Grand am Tailights all work normaly except when the headlights are on and then they don't work at all?

Could be the headlight switch.
The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position.
You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.

Turning my headlights on blows the fuses to running lights and dashlights

headlight switch is bad, change the headlight switch itsellf will short out, therefore blowing your fuse. turn signals and break lights are on a different relay, therefore they will still work

DRL works all the time...turn lamp switch on ..don't get brighter...and highbeams don't work.

The DRL's are separate from the actual headlights. It sounds like your headlights aren't working at all. The first thing I would check would be the headlight fuse(s), or relay(s). The location for these should be in your owner's manual.

Hope this helps!

I have no dash lights or headlights

since the dashlights and the headlights are on separate fuses and i figure that you have checked your fuses i would look into replacing your headlight switch. headlight fuse works the switch the switch tells the dashlights to come on and sends a signal to a relay under the hood that tells the headlights to come on.

Headlights & dashlights turning on & off

Daytime running light module which is located under dash (around the area of the fuses) probably has a bad solder joint inside (if you take it apart). If not could be bad connection on one of the switches (like your dimmer switch)

No dashlights and no running lights in the rear

The main switch is bad that turns on all of the lights. New a new switch.

Dashlights and temperature dash lights not working

Turn on your headlights and check to see if your taillights are working. They act as a fuse to your dashlights, its a safety thing
