Where is the break at? Do you see a leak outside the firewall or is the leak from a drain? If it is from the drain you probably have a bad heater core. The solid lines on most heater cores run through the firewall and you should not have any soft lines inside the firewall. If you are just looking for a patch for a hose outside the firewall I would suggest you replace it. Otherwise you could cut the hose where the leak is, insert a solid piece of tubing and lock it down with hose clamps. Please just do not make that a long term fix.

SOURCE: coolent leak on fire wall in engine compartment on pasnger side

Hi , if you lift up your passenger side floor carpet and check underneath if there any coolant. If it`s dry you know the leak is in the engine bay ,if it`s wet could be either inside or outside of the firewall. In the engine bay check the hose clamps on both side of the hose if you can tight them or if one a those spring clamps try to reposition them. If you have hose clamp right at the firewall then you can easily change the hoses otherwise you have to access it from under or worst case behind the dash. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: My 02 Jeep Liberty is a Florida car. I have no

I think your air temperature mode actuator is broken but your heater core could be plugged as well.
If one of the two coolant hoses going to the firewall in the engine compartment is significantly warmer than the other then your heater core is plugged and will need backwashed or replaced
It should be easy to check the mode actuator it is located behind the glove compartment and is retained by two screws. If you pull it off you will be able to see if it is broken or not. If you need more information please respond.
What the actuator usually does inside is this unit is a circuit board, motor and small plastic round gears. The gears then rotate the actuator, which in turn opens and closes the damper allowing the air to pass through the heater core.

What happens is some of the little teeth break off creating a gap on the gear wheel. This gap prevents the gears from driving the actuator shaft..

I need to know how to change out the heater hose on a 1991 420 SEL

If you mean the one going through the fire wall, cut it off an inch away from fire wall and join with connector and hose clamps from a parts store .

If different, some models, the hose terminates in the scuttle area behind the fire wall.

I remember on one, I had to reach in under dash to disconnect the hose end.

You may need to put the hood into it's service position to acess the end of the hose.

There is a release mechanism on the hood struts or the hinges so hood will stand straight up.

I have a 2003 X-type and the heater does not work. The blower blows air but not heat. Help

There's a temperture valve (usually under the hood). It diverts hot water from the cooling system and directs it to your heater. Follow the hoses. There will be two that go from under the hood and into the fire wall. (Usually on the passenger side. Follow the two hoses from the fire wall to the radiator. Somewhere along the way you'll see the heater valve. Replace it. Good luck.

I have a 1995 chevy silverado 1500. the heater hose bursed. do I have to remove the dash board to repair it?

The heater hose connects to the heater core through the fire wall, under the hood, remove heater hose clamp at fire wall under the hood, remove clamp at other end, install new heater hose, no you don't have to do any thing under the dash.
