Recalls on blazer - 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

Check the GM recall list on this vehicle. There are problems with the multifunction switch, and the hazard light switch. The recall actually shows you what to do to narrow down the problem. Brake lights run through both of these switches. I just went through all of this, ended up being a burnt female connector that goes into the brake light switch. Up on the brake pedal.

There was a recall in 2002 on the lamps tellights park lights and more. See if your blazer has had the recall fixed. If not you need to take your blazer to GMC and have them do it. It may fix the problem.

Those are the typical symptoms of a problem with the mutifunction switch. The dielectric grease becomes impregnated with metal flakes, which jumps the contacts inside the switch. The clicking that you hear is the flasher relay located behind the glove compartment. Replacing the switch is not that hard for a DIYer. Some guys have remedied the problem by taking the switch apart, cleaning out the old grease, and applying new grease.

This bulletin cancels and replaces bulletin 01073, issued April, 2002. All copies of bulletin 01073 should be destroyed.
Due to parts availability, this recall was administered in two phases. This is the second and final phase of the recall. The Parts section has been revised to include parts for this second phase.

The best way to find out if there is a recall is to call the dealer ship and ask. You will need the V.I.N. so have it handy. It can be located on the inside of the drivers door jamb. But I would say that I doubt very much if there is a recall on this make and model. There could actually be a few different things wrong. From a thermostat issue to a blend door, or blend door motor.

You have a bad multifunction switch in the steering colum. The same thing happened to me on my 2001 LS Blazer. There was a recall for this item, and if you go to your Chev dealer they can run your VIN and see if it had already been replaced under the recall. If not, you may be in luck for a free fix.

That was not my luck, even though I had the same failure it had already been "fixed" during the recall, and that repair cost me over $300.00

I can't remember the exact names of the GM products that wer recalled for ABS brake malfunctions, google the make,name, and year of your car with the phrase recalls..you'll get several lists that will tell you if your vehicle was recalled or a service bulleting was issued for that problem.

Just to let you Know what you R getting into-I just got rid of My 2000 Blazer (THANK GOD)!!!! If you check out the Recalls and Complaints Online for the 2000 and Up Chevy Blazer you will be Reading for Months!!!! I am Chevy to the BONE and bought this for My Wife-It was GREAT for the first 15000 Miles and then Everything went Haywire! The Seats Broke, Lights quit, Tranny went Twice, Brakes Failed 3 Times, NEVER Ran Right again, Guages quit working, ON and ON and ON. GM will NOT honor these Recalls and Fixing them is REALLY Expensive. Just MY Opinion But, GET RID OF IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!! Took a BIG loss on Mine and Don't Regret it!!!!
