Hello my transmission dipstick cap broke off now the threads is left in my transmission. What to do I can't afford a mechanic
To check if you have adequate fluid, you should first switch on the vehicle, shift gears, and let it heat up a bit. Then move toward the engine and carefully remove the dipstick to wipe away all the fluid on it. Then reinsert the stick and pull it out, now it will accurately show the current fluid level.

This depends on what trany is in that truck, one has a dip stick tube with a normal dip stick to check the level and then the other trany has no dipstick theres a plug on the side of the trany where the tube would go , the plug need to be removed and to add fluid you would need a pump and small hose to pump it in, also these tranys take a certain type of fluid so check with your local dealer , the wrong fluid will damage the trany, the plug you remove will have a small stick on it to measure the level, when checking the level you dont put plug all the way in only the stick part goes in. here are a few diagram to show you the plug location and the stick to check level. hope this helps, be careful the plug is near exhaust and truck must be at operating temp and truck on level ground to check the level. good luck, hope this helps.

look about half way up the drivers side of the transmission there will be a large 'bolt' head its a fill plug loosen it, its only about a half inch long take it out and if fluid runs out or you can take a finger and touch fluid inside the transmission you are good

There is no dipstick on a manual transmission. On a manual tranny, you check the fluid by pulling the fill plug on the side of the transmission. The fluid is supposed to be even with the bottom of the fill plug hole. Gently stuck your finger in there and on a fully serviced trans. you will feel the fluid on your finger tip. On an auto transmission the dipstick is on the passenger side near the exhaust manifold close to the firewall. Also you fill the trans thru the dipstick. Make sure you use the proper fluid and the correct amount.22

I 'm not sure if there is any big difference any more, as long as you pick approved oil. Your owner's manual will have recomendations, and that's probably what you should stick to, or go right to a ford dealership and get some.

Does not have a dip stick.
Start the vehicle set park brake
In the side if the transmission oil pan a bigger bolt with a small bolt in the center.
Remove smaller center bolt trans fluid should drip out at a fairly constant rate if not its low.
Hope this tip helps.
