2011 Grand Marquis Accessory Delay Doesn't Keep The Radio On

When I turn the key to off the accessory delay doesn't power the radio or the power windows for the 10 minutes. I have switched out the power delay relay but it still doesn't work.

If you open your doors that feature won't work

You stop the delayed feature once the doors open

At least try it & see if I'm correct, may not be that way
on yours

Mine won't even power the radio or the power windows on even if I don't open the doors. Radio and power windows are died once you the turn the key to off.

Then you need the factory diagnostic manuals to work on it yourself or a dealer

That's why I posted on here to see if someone could tell me what to look for. I know the GEM has fueses and relays that it controls to provide power to the radio and power windows. I don't want to take it to dealer only to find out it was blown fuse and pay him $100.00 for a $5.00 part.

You never need a dealer for any reason, nothing special there that they do but you do need wiring diagrams as I stated to do some testing. No one can tell you how to repair a vehicle problem ,you need the reference material & develop a testing strategy that work for you. Try a close by repair shop I don't know why you meantion a fuse you checked the entire vehicle for them

Why does it remain in accessory mode after the key has been removed from the ignition?

Some vehicles have an accessory delay function separate from the ignition switch. This delays turn off of the radio and interior lights until all occupants have vacated.

My plymouth breeze won't start, won't make a sound, but my lights and horn still works , help me.

any real answer yet? did the problem ever get resolved? i have the same problem with my sister's car. too cold to diagnose tonight, but will post the solution probably tomorrow. since the lights and heater works, but ignition and radio arent getting power, my first guess is there's probably a fried fusible link which controls the 2nd accessory power to the ignition switch. will post a solution soon.

Radio windows and fuel read out stopped working

Check Fuse 2.3 (20 Amp). See electrical diagram below.

When it goes, it'll take out the audio and "Cluster and Panel Illumination."
(assuming your vehicle doesn't have an OEM Nav system - in which case fuse 2.3 would
supply power to the Nav system).

Fuse 2.3 is located in the CJB (Central Junction Box) - not the BJB (Battery Junction Box),
nor the AJB (Auxiliary Junction Box).

Also, check fuses F1.6 (60 Amp), and fuse F1.62 (30 Amp) in BJB (Battery Junction Box).
Also, check fuse F2.17 (15 Amp) and the "Accessory Delay Relay," both in the CJB (Central
Junction Box).

Here's the electrical diagram for 2005 Mercury Mountaineer Power Windows:
Note how fuses F1.6, F1.62, F2.17, and 'Accessory Delay Relay" will all
disable the power windows.

My radio and power windows have been shutting off as soon as I turn the key from the engine running position to position 1. I thought they used to stay on for 10 minutes or until someone opened the door....

3 possible solutions: Check fuse #17 (it's 17 on my 2004) to see if it blown, that controls the power accessory delay relay. You may need a power accessory delay relay, they are on top of the fuse box way up underneath the dash to the left of the steering wheel. They are about 10 bucks, but they are a real *$%@# to get to. Also check fuse # 6 in the power distribution box under the hood. There is a list of all the relays etc.. on page 182 of the owners manual (pg 182 for my 2004)

This is normal until you open a door. It will stay on for about twenty minutes as long as no doors are opened.
