SOURCE: Changing PCV valve

you pcv valve should be located on the top or around the intake on top of the engine. It is covered by a little pcv valve rubber hose...it is easy to identify because it is similar to a radiator hose but a lot smaller...no where near the size of a radiator hose...but when located, the pcv valve just pulls out and to check for it being bad, shake it and it should sound like something loose inside the pcv valve (thats a good pcv valve) but what they look like, they should be a silver looking color with a small little neck on it

P0171 OBD II Trouble Code This site may help locate the problem. Unfortunately these trouble codes do not necessarily pin-point a problem. They merely direct you to the general location of a problem i.e. a faulty system or circuit. So I advise you go down the list of possible causes, and check the PCV valve, and vacuum lines, etc. I hope this helps! Good Luck....

3.8L BUICK REGAL IDLE WONT KICK DOWN IN PARK OR IN GEAR CHECKED VACCUM LINES & INTAKE GASKET 4 LEAKS ALL LOOKS GOOD ANY SUGGESSTIONS

If you know for a fact you have no vac leaks, the next step would be to check the idle air control valve. It should be mounted in the throttle body. It could be stuck open.
The computer controls idle speed by regulating air flow into the throttle body.
The throttle plate could also be stuck open. An eighth of an inch would do it. Make sure the throttle and cruise control cables are not pulling on the throttle plate.
Vac leaks could include the PCV valve and the EGR valve.

Can't find map sensor for 1995 buick lesabre custom

Hi, the MAP semsor is located on the passenger side of the engine in from of the intake manifold (which is the black plastic/composite housing also referred to as the plenum). There are two wires and a little connector leading to it. Below this is another plastic apparatus which you can turn counter clockwise using a 15mm socket once the MAP sensor has been removed. Under here you will find your PCV valve. Make sure when changeing the PCV valve that you replace the O-ring and don't forget that it goes on the new PCV valve starting from the bottom. Another way to describe it is this. Hold the O-ring in the palm of your hand then push the new PCV valve into it.

Take care
