Which seal. ? rear of WHAT?
2wd, 4wd?
3sp,4speed or 5sp. tranny.?
my wild guess, is the rear transfer case leaks, and if yes, where.?
it can leak in 3 places. (ive rebuilt them and the boxes)

or the rear engine seal.

so the rear seal can be, in 3 places.
if you work on 4wd, it really can be 5 places.
6 counting rear of front axle.
that is because the exit paths are shared on many.

first tell me what you are driving like this.
97 geo 2dr, 5sp 4wd. like that, then we can answer in fine detail.

SOURCE: How to Replace the crankshaft seal on a geo

Not sure about your model but here is a Nissan Sentra. Might be similar. You decide.

Seal is behind belt pulley mounted in the timing cover. It actually seals to the shoulder on the back of the pulley (harmonic balancer), not the crank shaft. Use a special pulley removal tool, NOT a hammer or crowbar to remove. Breaks easy and is expensive to replace.

but a seal puller is $5 and one can use a ice pick and punch a hole into the seal . then screw in a wood screws in the hole and pull it out.
just careful removal , no hurry.
the real problem is never put the seal back on unless you cover and protect the crank lip, this lip has a 100% seal destruction record.
suz stopped selling their $2 protecter so i use electricans tape.

no when you put the crank cog back on , be sure to use
a new factory bolt , they streatch , and set the torque 17mm bolt to 94 lbs/ft ( new TSB spec)

its all here on my page

Are you sure that it is oil and not transmission fluid? The stains can look similar unless you actually get down and touch the fluid. If it is reddish in color then it is transmission fluid, which means you have a leak somewhere in the transmission. Either way, check your transmission fluid level and make sure it is not low. If it is is low, add some fluid and bring it to a transmission specialist to help diagnose and correct the problem.

Oil leak on a '92 Geo Tracker. Installed an O Ring, but still leaking. Any suggestions?

O-ring where? The drain plug? Distributor shaft? Or do you mean oil seal?
Geo oil drain plug specifies a compressible copper ring washer I think? Need to clean the surfaces well, and torque to spec. My own plug's seal is not perfect, but only a drop here and there usually. Autozone or NAPA can supply you a new plug and washer if needed.

How to replace main engine seals on 1.6l geo tracker

its not bad, seen many replace mains for no gain,, vast....
on many forums.whe do that.(if a/t is oil ATF)
and were wrong every time.
the reaR VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKS, skipping 60k mile service is Reasn.
AND This oil then runs down back top of BELL
the finds the magic secret, suzuki bell vent (gravity is a beach)
and then runs into said vent and fools all owners that rear seal leaks(even me.... )

see this.

all that oil ,is VC gasket and distib 0-rings bad.
every drop..
this be first.
ask how to fix both , have links to all pages

I have 1994 geo tracker, i have to replace oil pan as it is corroded and leaking oil. Do i have to pull the engine out to remove oil pan or is there another way to do tjhis?

there are 2 ways, and both are here.
pull engine
pull axle
it;s your choice, and covered here and the factory service book too.
depends on tools, (lift?)

way 1

way 2: (factory way)]
here is the pull page. engine
and last link there is to fsm page on same.

happy trails.
99% of leaking pans, are NOT.
it is :
1: valve cover leaks, (not doing 60k service and not putting in new VC)
2: cam seal leaks.
3: crank seal leaks.
4: the infamous, dizzy 2 o-ring leaks.
5: and doing head rebuild, they forget to read the page on how
to seal the rear cam cap. and bam, it leaks, the FSM covers that.
i can tell you which page.\
and gravity does the rest with help from mr. wind.

if the pan is only rusty, hit it with phosperic acid (ask) and then paint it on car. the PAN is RTV glued to the engine are never leak. (almost)
and are real hard to get them resealed , leak free. so makes sure
it really does leak.

Oil leak front engine timing chan

1995 Tracker would have a timing BELT. Normal oil leak points (in order) on a Suzuki G16 engine are the distributor base (rear of motor), valve cover (top of motor), front main seal (behind lower timing belt cog) cam seal (behind the upper timing belt cog) and rear main seal. (behind the flywheel). I'd suspect the front main seal or cam seal. I use foot power to help find oil leaks.

I have a 1990 Geo Tracker 4X4 with a manual transmission. Overall the vehicle is in excellent shape. It has been pulled behind a motor home and has 160,000 on the odometer -- about 70,000 of this was...

I would be more concerned about what you put in it,
than the leak
I would never use a sealer even if they worked
I would say pull the trans & try a different brand seal,
and do the work yourself
You can not be having a vehicle that old or any vehicle
worked on ,if you have to pay someone
The cost is too much & quality of work worse

White smoke coming from my 95 Geo tracker, Standard shift, only on start up any ideas. Just had a tune up, new clutch, and cable.

most deffinately an internal issue. 2 possible problems oil seeping through valves when engine not running. sitting in combustion chamber and burns off during start up. 2 piston rings in one or more cylinders bad and letting oil blow by and start up is only time it is really noticeable.

Back window leaks

JUST look and see, when raining? really !

THE TOP REAR , Window fits to a abar that fits to a long bar,
when the rear door closes , it seals against this bar, and there is a seal.

if no seal then go to GM or Suzuki and ask for seals.
