Seems like its choking

Driving along I will start to lose power, will sputter, be ok for a minute and sputter again. I smell what I think is improperly burned fuel or something like that. When it sits for a while it will run fine for 20 minutes or so. The service engine soon lite is on

First you have to check for code with scanner , sounds like you have sensor problem , (coolant temp sensor map sensor etc). it could be a fuel delivery issue like lean condition . but the code for engine light will guide you in right direction. good luck

My car is sputtering and dying. If I try to restart it, it will immediately go into sputtering/dying mode. If I wait a while an hour or so it will start up and drive fine.

When was the last time that the carburetor was stripped and cleaned? Also have you checked the fuel filter? Finally, the problem seems to come and go as the engine is run (and it gets hot) check that the fuel line and any electrical cables are well away from the hot engine as far as is possible.

My 2001 bmw ci run, and then just shut off, after a few minute it will run again, and shut off while driving it. Please Help

You need to determine if it losing electrics or fuel. Does it sputter as it dies, or just dead off? Dead off usually means spark circuit has been interrupted. Think of things such as bad coil, crank sensor, ignition module. These items have electrical coils inside, which can develop a crack in a wire which heats as running and fails, then cools and will run again. If it seems fuel related, first check for bad gas cap vent, then use fuel pressure gauge situated so that you can see it while driving and see if pressure drops just before car dies. This could mean bad fuel pump, dirty filter, bad relay.

Car loses power for short time after normal running and cooling down for ten minutes

sounds to be symptomatic of a CTS (coolant temperature sensor). there are two, one is for the interior temp gauge, the other is for the ECU/PCM while both are basicalty the same part, often even the same P/N, they both do extremely different things.

1st move is to ck the fuel PSI & emissions. Possible cooling system cause.Scan computer & check sensor readings & the emissions readings are the first moves. Check spark plugs, ignition spark etc. Good luck

When im driving my truck,it starts to sputter and

I would try spark plugs and wires. If it was a fuel line you would see the leak or atleast smell it very strongly. If the problem still exists after new plugs and wires try the distributor cap.

I'm getting the same message, when I'm driving at about 65 mph van starts losing power, kind of "coughing". I've been told that could be either fuel inyector or the need of a good tune-up. I'm taking my van (2002 E250 V8) to the dealership, they have the special equipment to zero into the problem and fix it,

Car skips and sputters and dies

I would check your o2 sensor. Take it yo your local parts store, usually they will hook up and read off your codes for free telling you the sensor that is bad.
