I have been having to remove the hot post from the battery when its not being drove, if not my battery dies, I was told that this is a ground somewhere. ??????? Who told you that ? You have a parasitic drain on the electrical system . Something is staying on or there is a short , maybe one of the computers on the vehicle isn't powering down . GM trucks have instrument cluster problems that can cause this . Can also bring down the class 2 serial data network causing the vehicle not to start . Do you know what class 2 is ? All the computers ,control modules ,what ever you know them by , all share info. send commands etc. on the network .
The BEST Way TO Perform Parasitic Draw Test

012 GM Class II Communications
Your best bet mite be to take it to a qualified repair shop.

if this is the vortec engine you may want to check to confirm that the injector pot is working. The injector pot is located under the air intake manifold (top half only) & PLEASE BE SURE TO DISCONECT BATTERY FIRST. if you unbolt the top half of the intake manifold you will find the main injector pot otherwise known as the SPIDER. This part does have a history of failing and can be very costly to replace if you purchase it new. most junk yards should be able to find one for you.

are you using the original key ?? sounds wear but in the key switch there is a sensor that detects if the right key is in use otherwise it will kill the power to the fuel pump or it can be a fuse look under the left rear passanger seat there is another set of fuses and the other set of fuses are on the driver side near the door and there is another set of fuses and relays inside the hook next to the battery

check oil level might be too full or air cleaner box not fitted correctly or hose from air cleaner to engine not sealed correctly.
