Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 5.3L FUEL GAUGE PROB.

I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH A 5.3L. THE FUEL GAUGE WORKS SOME TIME AND SOME TIME NOT. SEEMS WHEN I FIRST START IT UP IT WONT WORK TILL I START DRIVING AND AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE IT WORKS GREAT. UNTILL I STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK OR SHUT IT OFF. AND THEN WHEN I TURN IT ON IT WONT WORK AGAIN UNTIL I START TO DRIVE AGAIN. IT ALSO SEEMED TO STOP WORKING AFTER I HIT A BIG BUMP BUT ONLY SOME TIMES. NEED HELP HERE.

The problem is in the tank.The sending unit float gauge is worn.Its a factory GM issue.You will Need to replace the sending unit in the tank.I had the same problem and thats what I found.Its real common and this will solve your problem..Its 67.00 Dollars on Ebay..

Two possible causes ... the sending unit relay needs to be changed... or you have a bad ground or connection on the guage... which may require dropping the tank to fix... if you can get it up on a lift see if the wires are accessable from under the car.

There is a Sending unit for the Speedometer Under the Dash or on the Sterring Column. It is not Cheap, Last I heard it was 475.00 for a New one. There is Also a Speed Sensor that is Supposed to be on the Transmission that could cause the Same Problem. I have never Replaced these But have Read about them on here quite a Few Times. You could go to your Library and Check out a Haynes or Chilton Repair Manual for your Truck and Locate the Exact Locations. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help That I can Get! Thanks!

2000 silverado problems

Common problem on that model chevy. Check the fuel regulator to make sure is not leaking. Allow it to run for a few minutes and shut it off then pull the vacuum line off of it. If there is fuel in there that it is leaking. If that checks out it will most likely be the fuel pump. If you cycle the key a few time then it starts fine it will be the pump

I have a 2000 chevy with 5.3 liter v8. fuel pump has been replaced but the same problem is still there. some times it will start on first try, but usually it takes two times it seems that the fuel pressure...

shounds like temputer sensor may be messing up telling computer to choke it to much or not enough .........replace sensor should fix ya

Common problem on the 03-06 Silverado instrument clusters for the fuel gauge to go out. It's usually caused by one of two main problems, either the stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board is going out or the sending unit on the fuel pump is going out. You will have to have the dealer reset the security light to restart vehicle.Check all engine and chassie grounds because this is where the lighting would exit the vehicle.It sounds like a ground burnt through.

Headlights wont work on 2000 chevy silverado everything else works. Bells even ring with switch on. The high beam light will even show up on bright. The running lights work. Headlights just wont come on.

Chevy silverado keeps blowing fuses

Your 20 amp fuse will not blow if glowplug wire shorts. each plug draws 15 amps which is 120 amps total.I think there are in line fuses for them. Try to wring out where each output from the fuse goes, disconnect all and reconnect one at a time till it blows.That should point to your problem process of illumination! Good Luck!!

2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 hard to start

Pull the vac line off the regulator right after you stop the engine. See if there is gas in the vac line if so the regulator is bad. If no gas is present it could be the check valve in the fuel pump letting the gas pressure leak down. Get a set of gauges and hook up to the fuel lines and check for pressure loss. You will have some loss but should hold steady for several hours. Another thing to try is turn the key on and off several times before trying to start this will charge the lines if this works every time you are losing fuel pressure. If you still have trouble when doing this I would look somewhere else besides the fuel system

I have a 2005 chevy silverado heater/ac fan stopped working . Checked fuses all were good .Removed fan and it works ,whats next?

Try this solution. I have had the same issue three times. A Chevy tech told me that if it keeps doing it, to replace the blower motor, as it seems to be a chronic problem with the blower having to much resistance and thus burning out the resistors. I suspect that you probably had lost one speed first and then more. It has happened both ways with me, once the entire thing went out at once and then the other times it goes one speed at a time.
