Fuel Pump, car won't start, has good battery and spark, no fuel.

My niece has a 2000 sunfire, her car died, had to tow it back to her place. It has a good battery, a lot of juice, it also has good spark, disconnected the in-line fuel filter, had a friend turn it over, no fuel came out of the line, removed fuel filter aft of gas tank, couldn't get gas to come out either fuel line (it has a half tank of gas). Inspected the fuses they look good. I work on cars and airplanes (military & commercial) but I haven't removed gas tanks from cars. Any suggestions or links to manuals on how to R&R the fuel pump, or maybe it might be a different problem.

These are relatively easy to change. Raise the rear of the car and let the suspension hang. (usually with jack stands in front of the rear tires) Unbolt the muffler hangers and let the exhaust rest on the rear suspension. remove the heat shield. Disconnect all the little plastic lines. Pull off the filler and vent tubes. Use a jack to support the tank while you unbolt the straps. As you lower it, you should be able to get to the 2 electrical connectors. The rest is self explanatory.

Make sure battery has a full charge. Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?
Chevy doesn't have a fuel cut-off switch. As far as ford--chevy--Chrysler, ford is the only one I know of that has a fuel cut-off switch.

Before died it sputtered and backfired, gave it throttle it died. Towed to my house and turned it over many times, then it started. I pushed pedal to give it gas and it died.

What's missing ? Spark or fuel ? Just because you replaced the fuel pump and filter does not mean it's getting fuel . Did you check fuel pressure , the electrical circuit ? Did you hook up a spark tester to see if there is spark ? Watch this video from Eric the car guy . No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy Do you know what a fuel pump relay is ? Fuse for fuel pump on 2001 pontiac sunfire

There are some logical steps need to be taken 1st. Verify if the engine has air, fuel and spark. Fuel can be checked with an inline gauge at the fuel rail. There could be several different things wrong. Bad ECM, fuel pump, injectors, fuel pressure regulator etc. Need to verify spark, this too may have several different problems. Bad ECM again, power/ground circuit faults, coil pack ect.

My Mitsubushi Space Star Car won't Start. What can I try?

spark plugs are deep in the head yet you should get all the the old fuel out first, stale fuel wont ignite and will also clogg fuel filter. you need a mix of atleast 70% new fuel even then its not good for the injecters. If its a manual gearbox a tow start is a quick fix although no go for auto's. cant be much wrong if car was fine when parked, plugs-fuel-filter and possibly fuel pump for sure. If that doesnt fix take plug out put in lead and crank engine to be sure you have spark even just put any plug you know works in lead leaving your plugs in engine just to check for spark y turning over engine looking for spark on plug good spark will be blue but any spark is good.

2000 ram 3500 deisel dies at 2000 rpm won't start

could be fuel elated, there are two fuel pumps, the high pressure pump to feed the injector system and the lift pump to get fuel from tank to the high pressure pump. Check fuel filter also and start there. The fuel pumps are expensive. What have you checked so far and eliminated?

Intermittent no start, very strange, very confusing

Sounds like fuel pump going out. I was told by a friend that the pump can get stuck and that by knocking on the fuel tank or by attempting to start that it can kick the pump out of the bad spot and it will start. But it is a sign that it needs to be replaced.
