I checked the driver side sliding door, it is closed all the way, I slammed it, but the fuel door still doesn't open when I pull the lever on the floor on driver's side. How do I find out how it keeps the fuel door from opening?
    Thank you

Where do I look to see the cable, is it visible somewhere or do I have to open something? Thank you

Ok check the sliding door on the side the fuel door is on. there is a safety mech. there the door needs to be closed all the way. if its not you can't open the fuel door. so slam that door then find out where and how it keeps the fuel door from opening. because if you open the door with the fuel door open it may damage fuel door

well make sure that the cable is still attatched to the pull handle. then with a small flash light look inbetween the gaps of your fuel door to c if you can c the lock pin move (as you may take a fine pick and move it) also have someone pull on the doo at the same time you pull on the lever. good luck

i have seen the handle that you pull to open the door break.

it will usually break under the handle where the cable attaches.

if cable not broke at the handle the next step is to mess with fuel door while you have someone pull on cable. if that does not work.

open the slider door and look at the rearward portion on the body of the vehicle. c if you can see the mechanism that keep the fuel door closed.if you can tinker with it. and if after all this has failed. you can get on the ground and look up underneath the van at the fuel door area with a flash light. inspect it if you can (prolly not though thats just a shot in the dark. then you need to remove the d pillar trim on the inside. or the rearward panel. goodluck

SOURCE: fuel door on my 1993 toyota camry won't open when I pull the leve

Get someone to help you. Have them pull up on the handle, whilst you pry open the door with a credit card, or something thin and plastic. Pull open the fuel door. Look to see if there is a bent piece of metal above the hinge. This is the "spring" that pops the fuel door open. If it is not there, it has broken, and needs to be replaced. About 3 dollars at a Toyota Dealer.

My lever wont open my gas i need gas.actually even the trunk lever wouldnt open the trunk.....finally the trunk lever i was able to pull up and then i couldnt ...

Hello. Here is what I need you to do:

Have someone pull the gas door release. With a credit card, or something like it, popsicle stick, nail file, etc, insert it at the side of the door that opens, not the hinged side. While your assistant is pulling the lever, see if you can manually pull the door open. If it opens, you have a broken fuel door spring. Toyota parts depts sell them for 3 dollars. The spring is there to "pop" the door open, when you pull the lever. If it is broken, and they break rather often, it needs replaced.

You may need someone to help you. Have someone push in the cover while u pull on the lever.. Hold the lever and ask the person to try to open the fuel door. If you can get it open that way the spring on the door will need to be replaced.

Most cars have an emergency fuel filler door release somwhere in the trunk. Look for some kind of pull cord close to the area of the outside fill door.

Fuel Door will not open

the cable from the lever to the door has broken. If you look inside the trunk, (sometimes you will have to pull the carpeted side down) right behind the gas door, you will find a short emergency release cable with a loop on the end - grab and pull the loop and your gas door should pop open.

Hi, chances are that the cable to your fuel door relase mechanism is stretched, this often happens over time especially if the mechanism has been removed and replaced incorrectly. To fix this you will need to open the door with as little force as possible so you dont have to replace that too and have someone pull the lever so you can see if the mechan ism is moving freely, if it is it may be either a stretched cable or crooked mount , try re-mounting as this is the easiest thing to do, if that doesnt help then you may need to replace the cable. If the mechanism is corroded or stiff then remove the mechanism and spray with WD-40 or a similar lubricating/ freeing agent then leave it to soak in and try remounting the mechanism to see if this rectifys the problem. If the mechanism looks to be broken or severly corroded then replacing may be the only option. Goodluck!

When i flip the little gastank door lever on my camry it won't open the door

New or Old!?
The cable is probably just broken/jumped off, lift up the carpet and you should be able to open it, by pulling at the end! NOT THE CABLE ITSELF...;)
