Possible seatbelt latch problem. There are sensors in the latch part of the assembly that inform the restraint module as to what is happening. Sometimes foreign objects get stuck in the latch assemblies ( Children ) and can affect operation. Scanning the airbag module for codes will let you know what part of the restraint system is causing these lights to be on. As long as the airbag light remains on, the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident

There is a manufacturer's recall on this if it's caused by a failure in the front passenger weight detection system.
The system has a minimum weight required in the front passenger seat for the airbag to deploy in an accident (if no one is in the front passenger seat during an accident, the airbag does NOT deploy). If the system fails and the car cannot determine if someone is in the front passenger seat, the light illuminates and in an accident the passenger airbag WILL deploy, even if there's no one in that seat.
The purpose of the system is to prevent airbag deployment for a lightweight child in the front seat. The fix is to replace the seat weight sensor mat...free if it's the recall item.
It really depends on the type of wreck you were in. Your seat belt being on or off does not have anything to do with whether or not the airbags would be deployed.
If they were not deployed it means that your car will not be labeled as totaled, which is a good thing.
some times the seat belt switch or wiring can cause the light to come on. first check under the front seats to see if the wiring are disconnect from the seat being moving back and forth.
also check the fuses, if all are good then you should have your car check at a qualify repair shop or the dealer to see what is wrong. with the light stays on, the next time you have an accident the airbag will not deploy
When the SRS light is On the system has determined that a problem
exists and because the system doesn't have the ability to judge how
that detected problem will affect the air bags deployment the system
shuts down the airbag system. They will not deploy in an accident where
a normally functioning system would deploy the bags.
The SRS is a supplemental restraint system meaning that your seat belts
are the primary restraint system. We're told that "airbags do save
lives"; if that is true then you compromise your safety by not
attending to the cause of the SRS light being on.
Good luck and please rate this with a testimonial too.
the SRS light is for your airbags. The light means there's a fault with the airbag system. This means the airbags may not deploy in a crash, or may deploy suddenly. have it checked out right away
YES. Any supplemental restraint system warning light indicates that the air bag system is not working. It has nothing to do with seat belts. Have this problem checked by manufacturer.
