How can i turn off the anti theft on my 2000 jetta so i can start my car with only the spare key ?

I got the jetta with only the spare key and no main key but i just had battery problems and the car was disconected to the battery for 3 days and now the anti theft wont let me start my car with the spare key can i is there a way to shut the anti theft off the factory alarm on my 2000 jetta ?

Hello -

You can probably obtain (purchase) a main key for your VW Jetta through your local Volkswagen dealer. The dealer will need your car's VIN.

Does your spare key have a transponder like the original key. If not, your imobiliser won't be disabled and hence car won't start

If you could disable it, they wouldn't call it anti-theft.

Citroen c3 2006 anti-theft

I had the same problem.when I used my main key my car wouldn't start and I got the message "anti theft faulty". The key and the remote still unlocks and locks the doors and turns the lights on/off but it just wouldn't start my car. I was able to start my C3 by using the spare key. The main key is still faulty and if used brings up the same message.

2000 LHS wont start at times and when it does security light stays on all the time and then car will cut out and shut down....tried new starter but that is not problem

it sounds like the anti theft system is turned on, car will start and die or sometimes not start, have the chip in your key checked it may be bad try a spare key. good luck.

If it starts and stalls immediately after, it is very possible that its caused by the immobilizer (anti thieft) try using your spare key .

Anti theft light comes on when driving

no cutoff switch!! try this turn key to on, do not start car. let sit for about 30 minutes, after 30 minutes, turn key off. wait 15 seconds and try to start car. this should reset anti theft system.

This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.
