The only squared thing on the pump is the "plastic"
fluid tank... Everything else about the design & function
is "circular".

There is ABSOLUTELY circular "MOTION" inside the PUMP...
PLEASE NOTE... there is a giant pulley on the front..
and the design of the pump is all about rotational force of the hydraulic pump (right THROUGH the middle).

High pressure to the high pressure...
(with a possible cooler option in the middle)
Low pressure back to the reservoir

We stopped guessing back in the 90's when car makers started using trouble codes. So should you. Blinking check engine light means you have a serious misfire. Sounds like the speed sensor in the transmission is faulty. Does the engine light come on? If it is , it would indicate the speed sensor code. Check the connection for looseness. Good Luck.

if there is really no problem with all these things they should be able to clear out the lights when they go to do the inspection.

I have also had this happen to me, but luckily it only happened once as I was driving through town, it would go to Empty to full and back to empty again...but it has never done it again.
