I replaced the serpentine belt on a 2000 Dodge Caravan but it will not stay on. Does anyone know how exactly to test the tensioner or should I just replace the whole assembly?
Gates makes a double sided belt kit that has ribs on both sides of the belt and comes with some new pulleys. we had to put one of these kits on a 99 caravan because it kept on throwing the belt too. since putting the kit on, it hasn't thrown the belt since.
Sometimes you can look at the back with flash light it is surounded by rubber if it is cracked or broken, But check your alternator and make sure you have pulled it out far enough it may just a imple fix.
