It will run for a few seconds with starting fluid. I replaced the fuel pump and filter and the ignition and switch. No improvement. I believe that the fuel pump "sometimes" kicks on only in the start (cranking) postion, then winds down when you let go of the key. Sometimes I think it doesnt kick on at all.
More than likely the pick up coil in distributor,not knowing engine size is hard to diagnose .The pick up coil pulses the injectors,this is most likely the problem not the fuel pressure.

Hello, this can be a multitude of problems but I will try to give you a list to check and i'm sure you will find the problem. I would check your battery connections and make sure that they are tight and not corroded. Next, I would get your coil packs tested and see if they are working. Autozone offers free diagnostics and this will pinpoint an electrical problem for you. I would also check things like your spark plugs and wires to see if your plugs are fouled or if you if have a bad spark plug wire. You may also need to a tune up and replace your oil and air filters. Bad gas is a possibility and so can be dirty fuel injectors. I would run some injector cleaner through your system and see if that helps. This problem can range from all of the above to a bad fuel pump, I would suggest getting a professional diagnostic done on your car so the problem can be pinpointed and if you find one and do not know how to replace it yourself but you want to save some money I can guide you through the replacement of a part and if anything refer you to a Haynes or Chilton Auto Repair Manaul. Fuel Pump relay, Fuel Pressure Regulator may be faulty. A relay can be tested with multi-tester, and a pressure tester for regulator.

the security system problems are common on this - do the lights flash and horn cycles when it locks up - the security system is wired into car main computer - can't be bypassed as far as i know - i read that to get around this lock doors manually - no key or remote - also hood switch could be problem

Listen for fuel pump when turning ignition to on position. If no pump sound, locate fuel pump fuse and relay in box under hood. First check fuse, then listen to relay while ignition is turned to on. Relay should click. If no click, replace relay. If click, circuits are good and pump is likely bad. Please reply if you have questions.
