97 Grand Cheeroke wont start in the morning when its cold out

I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cheeroke. Just replaced the fuel pump and fixed problem for a little while. Its been in the teens the past week or so and every morning my truck wont start. i have fuel pressure and the car cranks and tries to fire. Trying to jum it doesnt seem to help either. I added IsoHeet to it and sometimes it fixes it and sometimes it doesn't. The battery has around 10-12 volts when trying to start it. Also, i have a full tank of gas.
Any ideas?

My Jeep Grand Cherokee will not start as from last evening. Had to get it towed home. No petrol appers to be getting through to the engine. Is this the petrol pump? Would appreciate ideas.

Get some better voltage in front of the starter and computer. 10 volts is not really enough to keep a computer-managed car running. If jumping does not help, as you said, clean those connections where the cable meets the battery post. Test battery charge capacity, and go from there. Good luck.

Is it fuel injected or carb??? Try holding the gas pedal to the floor while turning the jeep over. This sometimes makes gas pump thru to the cylinders. Have you changed the fuel filter???? I know alot of jeeps have a fule filter with a bypass back to the tank, and sometimes the filter will be bypassing to the tank instead of the the motor. Check it out?????

My 97 grand cherokee cranks but wont start any ideas

Check fuel pressure. If ok then go to ignition. If low fuel pressure, then its either:
  • Fuel filter
  • Fuel pump relay
  • Fuel pump
Ignition:

  1. Coil
  2. Ignition module
  3. dist. cap and rotor button if equipped. (give a good tuneup)
90% sure its fuel related

This morning my car would start then immediately die after a second or two. even when i gave it gas it would just rev up and die. it did like that for a while, now even when we try to start it, it wont do...

It sounds an awful lot like it's not getting fuel. I would guess a clogged fuel line or fuel filter. Use a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure in the fuel bar.

Reset the timing and check starter ot see if working. Verify fuel pump is actually pumping fuel.

Jeep grand cheeroke will not start need help

TWO POSSIBLE ISSUES. A MOTOR NEEDS TWO THINGS TO RUN. FUEL AND FIRE. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FUEL PUMP IS WORKING BY LOCATING THE FUEL RAIL AND USING THE SHRADER VALVE, CHECK THE PRESSURE. THEN CHECK YOUR INJECTORS. IF THOSE ARE FINE THEN CHECK YOUR FUEL FILTER. IF YOUR FUEL SYSTEM IS FINE. THEN THERE IS THE FIRE PROBLEM. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD SPARK FROM YOUR SPARK PLUGS.
THE OTHER ISSUE MAY BE YOUR STARTER. IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE FROM YOUR ENGINE WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, THEN YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW STARTER.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee started up this morning then cut off on me. now it will roll over but wont start

check the fire at the coil as well as distributor if you dont have fire there when cranking then check your igniton module if there is fire? then your fuel system has shut down could be a faulty pump / filter/ or stuck injector which happens in cold weather and having just a drop or two of water in your fuel system

Turns over but wont start

the 1994 jeep has an anti theft device that u must over ride it. Using the key, lock and unlock the back hatch open and close it, that over rides the system then try starting it. works for mine but i have other problems, i hope that can be solved here Good Luck!

Faulty fuel pump

can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn key?(have an assitant turn key and listen for a buzz near the fuel tank) i think you have to take the fuel tank out to fix it.

98 Grand Cheeroke wont start in the morning when its cold out

10-12 volts, that is low, have the battery load tested at a local parts store like Autozone, it's free.

It won't start when it is cold but starts fine when warm. Will start eventually if you pump the heck out of it and crank it and repeat quite a few times. I have a 91 cherokee that won't start when it's...

Try cycleing ur key a few times before actually cranking it alot of the time wen a fuel pump is about to go it wont prime cycling the key will prime it. As for the fuel gauge thats part of the fuel pump its called a sending unit and in the jeeps its all in one unit. it sounds like your fuel pump is about to go tho. i had the same problem with my 93 jeep grand cherokee laredo. i replaced the fuel pump and it runs fine now u can get it from your local autozone for about 140. hope this helps let me know

Wont start when cold

There have been bad fuel pump regulators where they will leak fuel into the vacuum line that's attacthed to it. Pull off the vacuum line and see if gas drips out of it(replace the regulator if gas is present).
The regulator is on the fuel rail.
