Battery Light on and the Battery is fine but will not keep charge

My battery light came on and then about ten minutes later the radio lost power. Had a bad altenator and replaced it. Battery light is still on and the van will run for about half an hour and then acts like the battery is dying. If you put the battery charger on it then it will run again. Had the battery checked and it is fine. What could be causing this problem?

RECHECK the New Alternator This is Not Unheard of as I Have Experienced it Myself Several times.
After RULING it out and the Fallowing,Main relay box Power terminals, Corroded Loose fit nuts Etc.
Consider Voltage Regulator, Read the fallowing "CAREFULLY"

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component. It is actually a Voltage regulating circuit located within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) . The EVR is not serviced separately. If replacement is necessary, the PCM must be replaced.

Operation: The amount of DC current produced by the generator is controlled by EVR circuitry contained within the PCM. This circuitry is connected in series with the generators second rotor field terminal and its ground.

Voltage is regulated by cycling the ground path to control the strength of the rotor magnetic field. The EVR circuitry monitors system line Voltage and battery temperature (refer to Battery Temperature Sensor for more information). It then compensates and regulates generator current output accordingly. Also see Charging System Operation for additional information.

FOR Detailed Diagrams,on Entire Charging system they Must be Emailed,as they are too Large for the Formatting that "FixYA" uses my Email add. is My nickname here but add @aol.com By all Means If this is of Help to you , Then PLEASE RATS Me Thank you and have a Blessed DAY rejakwilson

I had a routine tire rotation and car alignment on yesterday. As I drove my car later in the evening, the vsc/ecm dash light came on, followed by the brake and battery light, radio and dash lamp lights...

Sounds like you lost the charge from the alternator.
When the alternator quits charging your battery light comes on and your car will run on battery power only...and only for a short time.
As the battery gets its stored energy used up...everything that is electrical will get slow or dim.

I'd check your alternator for proper operation and its drive belt...

Hope this helps...

GOT HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY AND CAR DROVE FINE. GOT IN THIS MORNING AND CAR ONLY TURNS OVER , BUT WILL NOT START.ANY IDEAS?

Sounds like the battery might not have enough power to start engine. Even though, the radio might play and the lights may come on does not mean there is enough power to start engine. Try charging or jump starting it. These are simple tests to see if it is the battery. If the car starts after charging or jump starting, it was most likely the battery. Just let the car run for ten or so minutes before shutting off to charge the battery. Hope this helps
