SOURCE: automatic transmission dipstick location for 2005 nissan pathfinder

The dipstick is located under the air cleaner on the right-hand side, identified by a yellow ring.

I have a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. I just put a new starter in it. My question is this.... if the oil pressure switch is not connected, will the pathfinder start?

Where is the oil pressure switch?

Here are you oil pressure switches,there are 2 types,one for light on dash and one for a guage,it is screwed into engine by oil filter,may have to remove filter to get to switch,may need a stubby wrench to remove,tight area.Take to Autozone and match up to be sure.

1998 nissan pathfinder oil pressure problems

Could be the oil pump.

Could be a major blockage in the lubrication system possibly due to major sludge build up.

Could be a faulty oil pressure relief valve.

1. How many miles are clocked up on the car?
2. How often does the engine oil and oil filter get changed in the car? Every 6000 miles for example.

Need to replace starter on 1995 v6 pathfinder looks like if oil filter is removed starter will come out from top

If it's 4WD it recommends removing front gravel shield, and connector from oil pressure switch, then drain oil and remove oil filter. Then should come out top.

Where is the starter in a 1995 nissan pathfinder

Starter - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
(see Figures 1 and 2)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery, then disconnect the positive battery cable at the starter.

  1. On 4wd models with the 6-cylinder engine:
    1. Remove the front gravel shield.
    2. Detach the oil pressure switch connector.
    3. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter.
CAUTION The EPA warns that prolonged contact with used engine oil may cause a number of skin disorders, including cancer! You should make every effort to minimize your exposure to used engine oil. Protective gloves should be worn when changing the oil. Wash your hands and any other exposed skin areas as soon as possible after exposure to used engine oil. Soap and water, or waterless hand cleaner should be used.
  1. On 2wd models with the 6-cylinder engine:
    1. Remove the front right wheel.
    2. Remove the front gravel shield.
    3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat insulator.
    4. Remove the exhaust manifold.
    5. Detach the oil pressure switch connector.

  2. Unfasten the remaining electrical connections at the starter solenoid.
  3. Remove the two nuts holding the starter to the bell housing, then pull the starter toward the front of the vehicle and out.

  5. Remove fuel tube retainer bolt.
