ThenI start my engine it sounds like diesel and no power

All oil pressure is ok,just no power some mechanic said what is intake camshaft,and diesel sound is just for few seconds then starting engine, 100000 miles.... I have a Vauxhall Vectra X reg 1.8 SRi
Recently it started sounding like a diesel engine (ticking noise).
When driving it is a little bit jumpy, as if something is blocked and then it gets unblocked or some kinda pressure drops and then goes back to normal and then it happens again a few times during the journey.
The vehicle has brand new spark plugs and recently had an oil change.
It currently has 98000 miles on the clock.
