Sounds like one of the gear links is loose and out of place just at the gearbox level.

Code po1847 2011 f350 ford diesel

Im assuming you refer to the code P1847. This translates as "Transmission Transfer Case Contact Plate 'A' Open Circuit".
This is a fault on the electronics on the transfer box under the car. That's the gearing box that splits the drive between front wheels and rear wheels. It also controls your High and Low ratios for the gearbox.

Why won't Reverse lights work no matter what I do?

Find and check the reversing lamp switch, it may be on the gear linkage or on the side of the gearbox/transmission.
you should a 12volt feed whenever the ignition is turned on. If you dont, recheck all fuses with a test lamp ( which you can buy from any auto parts store) and check the wiring for an open circuit or break in the wire. If power is available, check the output of the switch by testing each wire in turn with the ignition on and the gear shift in reverse ( dont have the engine running for this).
If you cannot find an output, replace the switch. If you find an output, check the wiring all the way back to the reversing lamps with the test lamp by carefully stabbing the correct wire until the test lamp no longer lights up. this means the break is bwtween where the tested the wire and it lit up and where it did not light up.
Repair or replace as needed.

Reversing lights not working i have checked all fuses and bulbs all ok what do i do next.

well im no auto electrician , but on most of the cars i have owned , on the manual gear box they had a switch which activated reversing lights , when reverse selected , dont know about an automatic transmission ,maybe if you had a look on the gear box for a switch , means getting under car though..

Reversing light dosent always work

Hi ddsnail123,
What you could be dealing with here, is a bad earth connection, or just as likely, a sticking or defective reverse lamp switch ( you'll find that on the gear box. If it's a manual it will have two cables and if it's an auto, it will be on the main gear selector switch)....The other alternative is, that the lamp holders or the connectors may be corroded inside and require cleaning or replacement....
