Due head cams before removing the belt you use a lock you can make one even out of bit of wood or a metal plate its just to stop the timing marks from moving. take the belt off and before putting the belt on get the cogs in the markings and lock them with the wood or the metal plate. but make sure you have another room to put the belt on. as an rule when the belt is on turn engine by crank with spinner one full rotation to make sure the timing is right before starting each time you turn the timing lines should all match up even on the adjuster if not adjust and do it again till its all lined up.

Make sure you mark cam and crankshaft pulleys with at least two marks on each one.
Also put marks on engine to keep them all lined up.
I use either tippex correction fluid or white paint.
