When i shift from 1st to 2nd it either is popping back into neutral or its not actually going in to second im not sure when i try to shift it again it goes into 2nd and doesn't pop back out. it seems to be worse if you try to shift at low speed/rpm below 3000 rpm. it shifts fine into 2nd from 3rd.

Car need to be taken to a transmission service shop.
If you keep driving it the way it is,,you could break the gear altogether, this will add to your repair bill.
Right now,,it could be just an adjustment.

check clutch hydrolics to make sure fluid is not low. Try double clutching. When in neutral, push clutch in, then out and in again and try shifting into low.

How do you adjust the shift cable on a 1995 gmc jimmy, wont go into reverse or park.

On the 1995 Jimmy, the shift cable can come loose on the mount on the side of the transmission where the cable meets the trans. When it slips, the alignment goes off and causes the driver to not be able to put the trans into park. If you take a long stick you can push the shift arm on the trans to the park position and your trans will go into park.....what you (and I) really need to know is how to take the shift cable mount apart and reset it.

1988 chev trans takes high rpm to shift from 1st to 2nd and some times it wont down shift when you slow down and hit the gas again

Check the adjustment of the transmission T.V. cable. Sometimes they also stick. Try driving it at 30. Shift to Neutral, stab the gas pedal to the floor quickly a couple of times. Then shift back to drive. Then see if it shift normal.

I have a 99 (S reg) impreza sport 2.0 AWD, manual gbx. i have recently started having trouble shifting into 1st, from 1st to 2nd and back down to 2nd from 3rd. the only thing that sometimes solves this is...

Sounds like a worn selector shaft in the gearbox. If it is it will need stripping and replacing. Better just to get another seconhand box. It could also be the clutch spline cover fingers worn so the clutch will not engage properly. Both will need the box out to find out.

Sounds like your Clutch is not disengaging properly. Do a test.
Find a Steep hill and try clutch control, if your Clutch is high, which means you are bringing your foot up more than usual, then your Clutch cable or plates could be worn. Suggest you get someone to check it out for you, but could be expensive to replace.
