There is a switch in the airflow meter that keeps the fuel pump relay closed as long as there is airflow. With the meter unplugged, the pump should not run except when the key is turned to start. It would seem to me that you have a wiring issue. Try jumping the fuel pump relay so the pump runs whenever the key is on. (Remove the relay and jump the pump wire to the accessory wire--see top left diagram.) This defeats the safety feature but will keep the pump running.

SOURCE: 86 4runner will not start,put

Your problem very well maybe that the new inline fuel pump that you put in does not supply sufficent fuel pressure to let it run... so to solve it i know it is expensive but you will probally have to put a tank fuel pump in.

SOURCE: 1994 Toyota Camry XLE replaced fuel pump & filter car starts & idles but boggs out and cuts off when pressing gas pedal?

have you pulled codes or checked the fuel pressure? It could be a host of things, like a clogged air filter restricting the flow of air into the engine, a bad air meter, clogged injectors, etc. Engine codes will help you start narrowing things down.

Has the engine air filter ever been changed?

Car will not start I primed it and still it will not start it does turn over but again will not start.

Hello.
Something you may want to try. Often the emission system can prevent the engine from starting, in particular the MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor.

This is very easy to check just by unpluging it. It is usually located in the air intake duct, ( where your air filter is located ), between the air filter housing and the engine. You should see a plug with 4 or 5 wires going to it, very carefully unplug it and then try to start the engine.

This is not a picture of your engine, just one to give you an idea of what you're looking for.
If the engine does start you will want to clean, or replace the MAF very soon, because if it's left unpluged it could start triggering other emission error codes.

I hope this helps you!
Donnie

My car revs up then dies right after I crabk it

try unplugging one sensor at a time, starting with the map(manifold absolute pressure) sensor then the mass air flow sensor. try the sensors one at a timeand plug them back in if the prob. still exists move on to more sensors. this really sounds like a sensor problem

I recently took my Toyota Camry into the shop to have them replace a oil pump cover gasket and now that it is put back together it runs really rough while idling only (it will rev up and then almost stall)...

it actually sounds like a vacuum or intake leak or the map sensor start the car and unplug the map sensor wire set. motor should have steady idle after that. if not then start checking and unpluging the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor the only sensro the car will not run with unplugged is the mass air flow sensor

The mass air flow often goes bad on them. Did you have the vehicle scanned. Try unplugging the mass air flow and driving it. It is built into the air intake hose. If that does not change things, check the fuel pressure, and the throttle position sensor.

Hope this helped

Wont stay started

Check your mass air flow sensor. Its in the hose that goes to the fresh air intake. Round, hard plastic with a plug on the side. Unplug it, look inside, if its full of green stuff, clean it out with mass air flow cleaner. be careful, those pins will break.

Stalling Toyota Camry 2004

P-0102 and P-0113 are mass air flow and intake air temp codes, the P-0136 is an Oxygen sensor code. Before you do anything, check for debris in the Mass Air Flow Sensor, it's small black box with electrical wiring connector that is screwed into the intake air tube, between the air box and the intake manifold. Undo the screws, remove the sensor, and, with a flashlight, and look down inside it for debeis, or broken wires inside it. If it's dirty, it could throw a P-0136...Comment back on what you find; hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa!
