jerks when?

moving the shift lever. with hand?

moving car. in gear,name the gear, drive, L or reverse?

You have to describe the malfunction better. What exactly does it do,and when(in gear or coasting?) or accelerating?

So you can race the engine in neutral, and no problem with it trying to die? If that's so, I think you need a clutch job. A clutch disc contaminated with oil or grease will cause jerking and slipping.

Sounds to me like you need to take a trip to your local certified mechanic!
