I purchased a used Jensen UV10 from a friend and installed it in a 97 eclipse spyder. I recently bought a 2003 chevy silverado 1500hd LX, and took out the aftermarket JVC cd player to install my Jensen. The JVC was working fine when I removed it, as was the Jensen. Upon installation in the chevy, it powers on and all functions work properly, except there is no sound. I've rewired several times and still the same outcome.

Depending on the model, the Silverado may have an amplifier between the OEM radio and the speakers. If that is the case, you will have to remove it and wire directly to the speakers. Check the wiring schematics for the original truck radio option (one source is Alldatadiy.com).

Yes, you will need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate tool. You can find them both cheap and good enough quality to use plenty of times. I got mine at Harbor Freight if I remember correctly. Tried doing lock plate one time w/out tool and it was a mistake. Gotta have tool.

try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the complete system. a few different things cause the reduced power to activate, oil pressure, coolant temp, traction control. I use my snap-on MT2500 to locate these types of problems

the problem is that your instrument cluster has a short circuit and it will need to be replaced you can try a used one but mileage will be off from yours you will have to remove the trim around the cluster then there are 4 screws holding cluster in place
